Somewhat Satisfactory

Lightweight. Simple. No restrictions. Better.

Lightweight. Simple. No restrictions. Better.

These are the key words for Somewhat Satisfactory. The ideal of SS is to maintain the vanilla gameplay and feel, while offering a variety of new things for the player to explore.

From electrical machines to magical constructs, enhanced farming and rich food creation, and new biomes, structures, and even worlds to explore, SS has something for everyone - but also tries to restrict "too much of a good thing".

Primarily, SS tries to bring some simple Vanilla 1.14 feel and gameplay mechanics to 1.12 via Future MC and Minecolonies, and mixes in some immersive, industrial-age gameplay via Immersive Engineering + addons, mysterious mystical content via Thaumcraft and Botania, and many new options for exploration  via new structures, world generation features, and dimensions.

With this theme in mind, the content added by SS has been divided into these 6 "branches". These branches are not restrictive in any way, but rather are just a simple way for you to divide stages in your game, or areas you'd like to focus on.

Therefore:

QoL, Vanilla/Exploration, Décor, Industrial, Magic.

QoL

To start with, there are a variety of performance and aesthetic mods added to the game for Quality of Life.

Aesthetic: Various aesthetic mods have been added to give your game a visual boost. Blur, BetterFoliage, Back Tools, AppleSkin, Dynamic Surroundings, Dynamic Trees, AmbientSounds

Performance: To counteract any negative performance problems, mods such as VanillaFix, Chunk Pregenerator, Clumps, FoamFix, Surge, BetterFPS are added. Optifine is recommended for max FPS boost & shaders!

Along with this, hundreds of fixes and QoL features for the vanilla game have been added, including Better than Mending, Bed Patch, Bow Infinity Fix, FastLeafDecay, Crafting Tweaks, Mouse Tweaks, Inventory Tweaks, Morpheus, RandomPatches, Armor Toughness Bar, etc.

Vanilla/Exploration Branch

SS adds many Vanilla 1.14 blocks, items, and features such as Lanterns, Barrels, and Swimming to your 1.12 game via Future MC and Ido. There are also sub-branches:

Villages and Colonies: A major part of 1.14 is building up and managing villages, and SS plays along with this by adding MineColonies, Mo' Villages, and other mods to create a much more vibrant and playful village atmosphere, with new buildings, villagers, and even Daily Quests to complete. Will you find a regular village and adopt it as your own? Or will you create a new Colony from the ground up? The choice is yours!

Automation and Tweaks: Various helpful items and blocks with a vanilla feel have been added to the game via mod such as Quark, Charm, Comforts, Faucets & Filters. None of these blocks will feel out of place, but you'll be able to do so much more with them. There are hundreds of Vanilla+ features to explore in Quark and Charm alone. Make sure you look up their documentation.

Farming and Food: Farming and food creation get a boost via the Cooking/Farming for Blockheads suite, Rustic, Simply Corn, and Vanilla Food Pantry. You'll also gain XP for creating complex food items. Become the food supplier for your server, trade with your friends and profit!

Mining: Geolosys means your ore deposits and mines may be far apart, but have a lot more within them. Later on, use Railcraft and Immersive Engineering to mine, ship, and process these ores back at your factory or village!

Worldgen and Battle: Exploration becomes fun again with Roguelike Dungeons, Twilight Forest, NetherEx & Natural Nether Portals, Rex's Structures, Worley's Caves, Hardcore Darkness, and Zombie Awareness - beware the horde!

Exploration and Equipment: Wearable Backpacks, Advanced Hook Launchers, the Antique Atlas, Nature's Compass, DaVinci's Vessels, Spartan Shields, and Reliquary allow you to explore and fight to your heart's content. Increased mobs variety: deer, butterflies, chameleons, lizards, mimics, birds and much more.

Economy: Sell items to your friends on servers with Vending Blocks and the Player Trade Mod!

The main (and only) major tech mod in this pack is Immersive Engineering, as it fits the Vanilla aesthetic well and has lots of opportunities for very cool structures and builds.

Eventually you'll have the materials to start with the Immersive Suite (IE, Immersive Petroleum, Immersive Tech, Immersive Posts, Immersive Cables, Alternating Flux, Questionably Immersive, Engineer's Doors, Engineer's Décor, Engineer's Tools, and Engineer's Workshop).

To help you set up your factory, Useful Nullifiers, Uppers, Pressure Pipes, Wireless Redstone CBE,

Finally, long-time Modded Minecraft players will be at home in later stages of the game, with Industrial Foregoing, Applied Energistics and Woot to explore and expand their factory and industry.

Somewhat Satisfactory is WIP. Currently in the public PRE-ALPHA playtesting stage. Things will break. This project is essentially a first release.
