Silent Depths – A Deep Horror Survival Experience
Silent Depths is a heavily atmospheric horror-survival modpack designed to transform Minecraft into a darker, more dangerous world. Every area feels hostile, every sound matters, and every step pulls you deeper into an unpredictable environment filled with tension, exploration, and fear. Early game is about surviving the dread — later, you can progress into automation, stronger armor, and real firepower so you can eventually fight back.
Important Note (1.0 Release)
This is a 1.0 release, but Silent Depths is still actively being tuned and polished. Most major issues have been addressed, however balance, optimization, and edge-case bug fixes will continue as the pack evolves. Player feedback is a big part of improving the experience.
What Silent Depths Offers
Silent Depths focuses on a complete horror-survival overhaul through:
Atmospheric Horror & Immersion
Dynamic ambient audio, eerie environmental sounds, and visual effects that create constant tension.
Horror-focused creature encounters designed to keep players alert at all times.
Realism-leaning interactions and environmental pressure that make the world feel heavier and more unsettling.
Overhauled Exploration & World Threat
Structures, ruins, dungeons, and abandoned locations scattered across the world.
Expanded underground danger and hostile exploration zones that reward risk but punish unprepared players.
A world designed to stay tense — exploration is never meant to feel “safe.”
Survival & Progression Enhancements
Meaningful gear progression with new combat options, weapons, tools, and survival mechanics.
Harder pacing that fits the horror theme (you aren’t meant to become overpowered instantly).
Inventory and equipment upgrades that support longer, riskier expeditions.
Tech / Automation (Late-Game “Fight Back” Path)
Silent Depths includes automation and tech progression so players can build stability over time:
Power generation, resource processing, farming/production systems, and stronger late-game gear.
The goal is to earn the ability to push back against the horrors instead of only running forever.
Shaders & Visual Options Included
Multiple shader quality levels are included so players can choose what fits their PC:
Ultra / High / Medium / Low / Performance
(Medium is intended as the main recommended preset for most players.)
Performance & Stability Notes
Silent Depths includes performance patches and tuned configs, but it is still a large horror pack.
Recommended RAM Allocation: 8–9 GB
It’s normal for RAM usage to spike higher at launch, then typically settle around ~5 GB after ~10–20 minutes of play depending on what you load/explore.
If you experience major lag spikes or crashes, please report it in the Discord with your specs and latest.log (and crash report if applicable).
Tested Hardware (Expected FPS on Default Settings)
These results are from testing on the pack’s default settings (results vary by resolution, render distance, shader preset, and CPU):
-
AMD RX 7900 XTX: ~300 FPS (often higher uncapped).
Rough NVIDIA equivalent: RTX 4080-class (7900 XTX is typically a bit stronger in raw raster/non-RT performance).
-
AMD RX 9060 XT: ~200 FPS.
Rough NVIDIA equivalent: RTX 5060 Ti-class.
Continuous Updates
Silent Depths is actively developed. Updates will continue to focus on meaningful improvements to gameplay feel, stability, performance, and the overall horror experience.
Known Issues (Read This)
Because this is a 1.0 release that’s still being polished, there are a few known issues we’re actively working on:
-
Occasional lag spikes can happen, especially during exploration/new chunk generation or in areas with heavy effects.
If spikes are frequent or severe, please report it in Discord with your specs + latest.log.
-
TaCZ gun packs (including Elite X Quality Guns) may still have edge cases:
-
Some weapons can cause large FPS drops while holding them (high-detail models + shaders).
-
Certain weapons may crash on equip on some setups (example reported: SPAS-12).
Workaround: avoid that weapon until patched/updated.
-
Shader performance varies heavily by system.
Medium is recommended for most players, but Low/Performance may still be needed on lower-end PCs depending on settings.
