Know your place!
Scratched will quickly bring you back down to earth. Survival mechanics and interactive features breathe new life into your Minecraft experience, turning progression into a calculated risk rather than a speedrun. The world is not designed to constantly overwhelm you with overpowered enemies, but instead keeps you limited, vulnerable, and grounded. Every advantage must be earned, and every mistake can matter.
Features
Brutal & Unforgiving
- 🍖 Nutrition — food quality and variety directly affect survival
- 💧 Thirst — raw water is not safe; purification is required
- 😮💨 Stamina — every action draws from a limited reserve, shaping how you approach movement and effort
- ❄️ Climate — environments directly affect comfort, forcing adaptation across dimensions, biomes and seasons
- 🐮 Animals — survival extends to livestock and wildlife, where care replaces convenience
- ⚔️ Weighty Combat — every encounter has risk; early game survival is deliberately fragile
- 💀 Punished Deaths — not all survival gains persist through death
Scaling & Progression
- 🧠 Skills — grow through use and experience, shaping your character over time
- 🔨 Interactive Crafting — processing items becomes a hands-on system, not a menu
- 🛠️ Gear Advancement — upgrade and refine equipment through progression systems and materials
- 🗺️ Exploration — advancement is tied to exploration and discovery
- 🎁 Risk & Reward — danger and reward scale together
- 🧭 Runic Endgame Path — gather runes to unlock enchantments and strengthen yourself to free The End
Worldbuilding & QoL
- 🌸 Seasons — crops, survival and environment shift over time; winter is not cosmetic
- 🌿 Immersive Environment — the world changes and reacts as you survive within it
- 🎒 Inventory Management — backpacks, storage solutions and logistics matter for long journeys
- ⚓ Vehicles — stamina makes sustained travel costly, shifting long-distance exploration toward mounts, ships, and other transport systems
- 🧱 Expanded Building & Decor — settlement development is tied into progression systems and late-game unlocks
- 📖 Quests — guidance is available, but never required; progression remains player-driven
Starting Worlds
To help new players get started, Scratched includes optional pre-generated world presets. These worlds are carefully selected and labeled according to their general environment and difficulty, ranging from ☆☆☆ to ★★★.

Each preset world has been pre-generated using Distant Horizons to provide a smoother exploration experience from the very beginning and to reduce initial chunk generation overhead.
These worlds are entirely optional. Players who prefer a completely fresh experience can still generate their own worlds using the standard world creation process.
