Science, Storms & Stars

Science, Storms & Stars is an ALPHA!  There are no quests, no promise of balance, and very few tweaks.  Mods WILL be added and removed regularly, and you WILL have to restart your map, likely many times before this modpack is complete.  You have been warned.

 

Once upon a time, man looked to the stars and dreamt of the future, overcome by wild fantasies of traversing the heavens.

 

Now, man looks to the stars in search of safety.

 

Humanity once covered the earth in monuments to their own power and ingenuity.  Now, they stand as testaments to our hubris, continually worn away by nature's wrath.  Don't gaze too long at the remains of our once great society, as the surface has become a dangerous place to linger.  The broken scraps of civilization hide in caves and underground shelters, but you know there is more to the world than this.

 

Go forth, young inventor!  The "space race" is now a race for human survival.  Reignite the spark that burned inside the explorers who came before you, and shoot for the moon... Even if you miss, you'll still be among the stars.

Science, Storms & Stars is a survival-based modpack in which the overworld has become a hellish, inhospitable place.  Storms ravage the surface of the already ruined world.  The only chance for survival is to abandon Earth in favor of space stations and new planets.

While S3 contains many mods, here are a few key features:

• Galacticraft & Mekanism make up the core of the tech in the modpack.
• Lost Cities is the suggested worldgen, with default settings (exploded buildings).  This starts you out in an already semi-destroyed cityscape, so you don't have to wait for nature to take its toll, though that shouldn't take long thanks to...
• Weather, Storms & Tornadoes is the primary threat, with block destruction turned ON, storm frequency turned to HIGH, and only 1/2 day minimum between deadly storms.
• Pam's Harvestcraft, Animania & Cooking For Blockheads because I'm not sure I'll ever build a modpack without this holy homemaking trinity.
