AN UNIQUE POST APOCALYPTIC MODPACK
makes minecraft a whole different game
The next update will be about adding some Lore to the modpack, for immersion and comprehension.
This modpack is a post Apocalyptic scenario where you wake up alone in a Wasteland surrounded by zombies that can only be killed with fire. At night the nightmare really begins. And if you try to flee in the Nether it can only get worse ! Your goal is to bring back life to this earth. Grow tree to make a forest. Let the rivers flow again. And build a town with a lot of villagers ! Only you have the power to restore life.
TO CREATE YOUR WORLD : GO TO "MORE WORLD OPTION" and select World Type "Lost cities".
OPTIFINE : If you can play with shaders and have good FPS, you can install optifine and put on the Chocapic13 V8 shader. In theory, you'll have it already configured to look like what you see in the screenshots. (note that the end and the aether does not look like they're supposed to with shaders. In the aether it's not dramatic, but in the End I would recommend to turn it off)
The Texture Packs I recommend using (with optifine) : Clarity, Tissou's Zombie, Alternative boss Models, Player Villagers
THE STORY :
You are a sinner. The gods have decided that you cannot die in peace until you bring life back to this scorched earth. You are in a wasteland, a no man's land. Nothing but undead creatures. They do not burn under the sun and you cannot kill them with a sword, but only with fire. The corruption of hell is upon earth. The nether is spreading everywhere a portal stands.
You don't know why you are here, why you are alone. You have to find life. You need to go ask the gods why you're alone.
But to go to their holy land made of infinite floating islands, you need a mount. Go find the dragon in the End to ask it kindly (defeat it) to help you. This dragon doesn't breathe fire though. You need fire power.
Maybe the gods will help you. They are three.
But you'll struggle to even get there. On earth, the moon is bleeding, and make nights impossible to skip, and impossible to endure. You cannot hide. You cannot die. Just run.
To get to your first dragon, you'll need to build the portal yourself. Tall and strange towers are everywhere, with a guardian on top. It's a challenge to prove you're worthy. They will give you the access to the portal as a reward.
Once you'll have reached the gods, they will tell you to do all the job yourself, and repent. They'll give you fire dragons eggs when you challenge them, to help you in your quest : Restore life on earth.
They tell you "You do as you want, I don't care. But you do it.".
(trust me it's possible, I did it once, it was beautiful. get ready for hours of gameplay, because it won't be easy to bring back life, villagers, animals and grow a forest)
to make it super simple, you spawn nowhere, you survive, you explore, you fight, to build a village and a forest in the middle of chaos (absolute chaos) with the help of dragons.
TUTORIAL :
So now you might ask yourself : How do I start ? What do I do ?
Well, in fact, you can start however you want really. Go explore the cities, go mining, go to the nether immediatly (if you're suicidal)
There is a line to follow : build a shelter, find materials, loot the battle tower golems, go to the end, hatch the dragon egg, go to the aether, kill the bosses, hatch the fire dragon eggs, burn everything.
With a dragon you can survive a night in the wasteland without having to panic and run in every direction. So, you can start building a town for your futur villagers. Find a way to make it safe, make it grow, and you'll have succeeded the challenge of the modpack.
The wither is also an option to get your first dragon.
PRO TIPS :
1 : Find all the materials to craft an Universal Block Reinforcer. This will be ESSENTIAL if you wanna build anything that will not be absolutely destroyed by mobs. (you just left click on vanilla blocks to make it unbreakable, craft an Universal Block Remover to get rid of reinforced blocks with left click)
2 : Build a shelter as soon as possible. You don't wanna stay homeless for too long in this environment. (build it near your spawn point, because you'll never be able to use beds)
3 : Battle towers are not only for Golem fights. In here you can find a lot of ressources and this is the only place where you can find ALL THE TREES you need.
4 : There is grass in some cities. So you need silk touch. There is an item that can provide you silk touch without enchanting a tool.
5 : You cannot die. But there are exceptions. Bosses are more likely to beat you ass, and in the nether, you are really not welcome. But if something "kills you", you just wake up instantly at your spawn point with all your stuff. And you lose 1 heart in your health bar. You can go down to 5 hearts and you will be hearing it non stop until you regain hearts.
6 : Uncrafting tables are life. With that, a little bit of thinking and minecraft knowledge, you can have many things you'll find nowhere else (example, flowers)
7 : You cannot move during resurrection, but you can dodge.
8 : WATER IS RARE. And not infinite. You can rarely find some water on the surface, but your best way to find water is to go underground.
9 : 1 on 10 zombie can be a zombie villager. Your only way to have villagers is to cure them.
10 : The holy potion of consecration can kill any undead, heal you, and cure zombie villagers. For that, you'll need apples and a lot of gold.
11 : Animals are all dead ... Except maybe ... Now they are in the aether, and you can bread them.
12 : Treasure chests with locks can have chicken eggs in them.
13 : Don't try to surround your house with fire or lava thinking it will stop zombies. It will just make things worse !
14 : Now your biggest fear is no longer to die and lose your inventory. It's literally to get stuck in a place surrounded by zombies and spiders without the possibility of dying. (spiders are a real pain, caution)
15 : The Aether is a holy place. No mob can be immortal here.
