Realm of Torment is an Adventure-horror themed modpack that has the aim of being playable by basically anyone.

The suggested RAM allocation of only 6 Gb makes it playable by virtually anyone, even on pcs that have a maximum ram of 8 Gb (like mine). Nowadays, if one wants a good challenge with a minecraft modpack, the only options that they have is to download a very heavy modpack, like Prominence 2 or something alike. Not all pcs can afford to allocate that much RAM, and Realm of Torment is exactly here because of that!

For those that can afford to allocate a bit more RAM to the modpack, however, RoT is also fully compatible with the Serene Seasons mod, and although William Wythers' Overhauled Overworld is present as the main Overworld world-gen mod, it is completely replaceable with any other world-gen mod one might fancy (like Terralith, for example, which is my personal favourite). It is just a matter of tastes, pc performance and world-loading time. Furthermore, although I haven't added it in the mod list for the pack, to be as annoying as possible, I really recommend playing this modpack with some gravestone-like mods (I really like the Corpse mod, for example. Remember to always download the curios compat mod too!), as especially in this pack, it is very extremely difficult to retrieve your items if the enemies that camp them were already stronger than you when you were all geared-up.

As this modpack was born also to have a difficulty comparable with that of RLCraft, its difficulty is relatively high. It is very difficult to progress if you don't know the necessary steps to take in order to get stronger, especially since even encountering a common zombie pre-diamond armor and without the necessary spells to kill it quick enough, will easily be a true life-threatening situation for the player. All in all, though, ROT was built with the idea not to be as vexing in the early stages of the game as RLCraft, but also not as easy in the mid-to-late stages of it.

Since I am still in the measurement stages of this difficulty system, right now some bosses are just a bit harder to kill than normal mobs, but probably in future updates it will not be like so, and every boss will actually take some time to defeat. If I can't make it with the difficulty system alone, I will just make them all 3-star champion bosses with the best affixes to complement their abilities. Do not worry about the boss difficulty, however, as that still applies only for the weakest of them, and the strongest ones will still put your life very much at risk, that is a thing I can easily guarantee.

Allthough RoT is a modpack heavily focused toward adventure and combat, those are not the only aspects that make this modpack shine. Exploration is essential to progress, not only to get rare loot, but mostly to gain access to the easiest and fastest xp farms possible in the entire game (which I am obviously not going to reveal here. Figure it out by yourself); for those that are fond of the items that have carried them throughout their adventures, Fetzi's displays is also included in this modpack, so all of your favourite items will be able to sit comfortably on the best displays you can make for them; for those that love pets, there are of all sorts: big, small, cute, a bit less cute... you just have to pick yours - they all have their use. Remember however, the stronger they are, the more difficult they are to get! As all things should be.

My wish is just for you all to have fun and enjoy this modpack that I have slowly (very slowly) improved, tweaked and tinkered with over these past few years I've had this project in mind, therefore just get on with it, have some fun, and let me know if there are any ideas you might like to share to further improve the experience of playing this modpack!
