What's new

Project Ages 0.6.0

New

  • A farm and a ranch (Age I): [Let's Do] Meadow (cow, sheep and goat breeds, milking, cheese) and [Let's Do] Farm & Charm (feeding troughs, sprinklers, scarecrows, carts and farmhouse cooking). Its foods share Farmer's Delight's: one tomato, one onion, one bacon.
  • Pets and wildlife (Age I): Doggy Talents Next (dogs that level up and learn talents; a whistle gives them commands), Critters and Companions (otters, ferrets, red pandas, koi, dragonflies), and ducks and geese.
  • Home comforts (Age I): sleeping bags and hammocks (Comforts), small touches to vanilla blocks (Amendments), more Supplementaries decor (Supplementaries Squared), strings of lights, garlands and bunting (Fairy Lights), and the Mega Torch that keeps monsters away from your base (TorchMaster).
  • A new End: Enderscape fills the End with the Celestial Grove, the Veiled Woodlands, the Magnia Crags, the Corrupt Barrens and floating void islands, with new creatures, sounds and sky, and its own End cities.
  • A new Nether: Incendium brings ash barrens, volcanic deltas, the weeping valley and places to raid: piglin villages, a forbidden castle, the sanctum. Nether Depths Upgrade puts fish and plants in the lava seas; catch them with a lava fishing rod.
  • Cooking with the End: End's Delight adds chorus pies, chorus tea, and shulker and dragon dishes to Farmer's Delight.
  • Middle-click sorting: middle-click a chest or your own inventory to sort it (Inventory Sorter). The sort buttons stay too.
  • Quality of life: what you pick up shows at the side of the screen (Pick Up Notifier), an optional over-the-shoulder camera on F5 (Shoulder Surfing; the game starts in first person), and leaves that drift down and rain that falls as particles (Falling Leaves, Particle Rain).
  • 330 quests: new ones for all of it in The Kitchen, Hearth and Home, and Survival and Exploration.

Changed

  • No more thirst. Tough As Nails is gone: no thirst bar, canteens, juices or thermometer. Its items disappear from existing worlds when you update, and its five optional water quests are gone too.
  • Far terrain keeps its shape. Distant Horizons now draws real chunks only, so far-off floating islands no longer show as pillars down to the void. Far land fills in a little slower.
  • Boss quests count. Killing a boss now ticks off its Bosses and Glory quest for everyone nearby (before, none of them ever did). The chapter also says the other eight bosses join in Age VII.
  • Recipes that made nothing or the wrong thing:
    • Silent Gear's paint mixer: an iron ingot in the middle (it came out empty)
    • Fairy Lights' skull light: three iron over a bone; craft it with a dye to colour it (it came out empty)
    • item shelves: three slabs in a row again (most woods made wood plates or drying racks)
    • Handcrafted's wood plate: two slabs with a gap; Twilight Forest's drying racks: a slab between two sticks
    • Handcrafted's sheets: three wool in a row (they took the sleeping bags)
    • Meadow's big flower pot: dirt in the middle (it took AlcoCraft's mug)
    • Farm & Charm's cleavers: three across over a stick (they took Kaleidoscope Cookery's knives)
  • Missile silos no longer crash servers. A Ballistix silo on an assembled airship crashed the server when it fired or was broken: silos don't keep their chunk loaded any more (a silo works while someone is nearby). Launch platforms and the VLS say they launch from the ground, not airships.
  • Keys: with Shoulder Surfing, Shift+F5 swaps shoulders, Alt + arrows move the camera and holding Left Alt looks around. With a dog whistle in hand, Shift+1 to 4 give its commands.

For server owners

  • The multiplayer list tells you what's running (with one address): running servers in green, the others greyed out, and "Starting up" when none is; joining then says to try again in a minute. /survival and the other server commands only show for servers that are running.
  • Everyone joins on the first server (set join=last in proxy/plugins/projectages/settings.properties to send players back where they left), and /servers lists only the running servers.
  • Updates keep your Distant Horizons thread settings.
  • New server packs use simulation distance 6 (was 8): machines and crops run within 96 blocks of a player, for less lag on busy servers.
