From stone to stars
Project Ages is a progression modpack for Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge) in the spirit of SevTech: Ages. You start with bare hands in the Stone Age and climb through eight ages, each locked until you have earned the one before it. The recipes and items of later ages stay hidden until you reach them, so there is always a next thing to chase.
The pack is in beta. It is playable from start to finish, but expect rough edges. Please report what you find.
The ages
- Age 0: The Stone Age. Bare hands, no crafting table, and the trees do not fall to your fists. Everything starts with flint and stone.
- Age I: Bronze. Clay, fire and metal. Your first real tools, and farming and cooking that finally matter.
- Age II: Medieval and Ritual. Magic arrives. Spells, starlight or blood: the choice of path is yours.
- Age III: The Twilight. A haunted forest of bosses, and a sky realm above the clouds.
- Age IV: Steam. Create and its add-ons: machines, trains and airships.
- Age V: Industry. Electricity, digital storage, pressure and oil.
- Age VI: Advanced Tech. Mekanism and the power of the atom.
- Age VII: Space. Rockets, new worlds, and a finale worth the climb.
What makes it different
- A quest book that guides you. FTB Quests lays out every age as a clean path of quests. Side chapters cover cooking, magic, workshops, storage and bosses.
- The Chronicle of Ages. A lore book written by someone who walked the road before you. A new chapter opens as you reach each age, with practical field notes alongside the story.
- A harder start. Felling a tree takes real effort and the trees topple over. Tools in the Stone Age wear out. Thirst and seasons are on, and you can drink from water by hand.
- Quality of life. JourneyMap, inventory sorting, dark mode for inventories, Distant Horizons, and the Complementary Reimagined shaders on by default. A lighter shader is included for weaker computers.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge 21.1.259 (the CurseForge app installs it for you).
- Java 21.
- At least 8 GB of RAM allocated to the game (10 GB or more is better). The pack has over 200 mods, so first launch takes a while.
- A computer that can run shaders, or switch them off in the video settings.
Playing with friends
The pack works in singleplayer and on a server. Everyone needs the same pack version. Progress through the ages is tracked per player.
Found a bug?
This is a beta, and feedback helps a lot. Please include your logs/latest.log (and the crash report, if there is one) when you report a problem.
