What's new
OREBOUND 0.2.2
OREBOUND 0.2.2 is one of the largest updates to the pack so far.
This release greatly expands underground exploration, introduces OREBOUND’s full optional boss line, improves multiplayer from the ground up, simplifies navigation, adds dedicated server support, and includes a large number of progression and stability improvements.
Underground Dungeons Expanded
- Expanded OREBOUND’s underground dungeon system.
- Added three major layouts:
- Open Vault
- Split Gallery
- Crossworks
- These layouts can appear throughout eight underground progression zones for 24 total dungeon combinations.
- Added depth-scaled mining caches and dungeon utility rewards.
- Added new mining consumables and tool-support rewards.
- Removed the planned Seam Stabilizer reward.
- New naturally generated dungeon layouts require newly generated chunks.
JourneyMap Is Now OREBOUND’s Main Navigation System
- Standardized OREBOUND around JourneyMap.
- JourneyMap is now the intended map, minimap, waypoint, and navigation system.
- FTB Chunks remains installed for:
- chunk claiming
- force-loading
- FTB Chunks map/minimap functionality and overlapping navigation features were disabled to avoid duplicate map systems.
- JourneyMap server support is included in the dedicated server package.
Four New OREBOUND Bosses
Added a complete optional boss progression line:
Excavation Overseer
A Deep Strata industrial encounter built around charging attacks, debris, movement, Thermal Overload, and arena positioning.
Abyssal Warden
A movement-heavy underground encounter using gravity pulls, leaps, eruptions, shards, and Abyssal Collapse.
Corebound Sentinel
A Corebound Security Vault encounter featuring four Core Anchors that must be destroyed to disable the Sentinel’s shield.
Worldheart Guardian
A post-Worldheart superboss encounter in the World Core Expanse. Players must bait the Guardian’s Core Lance through four Stabilizers before fully damaging the boss.
Optional Boss Questline
- Added a dedicated Optional Bosses progression branch.
- Added boss discovery and locator guidance.
- Added recommended gear guidance for the Abyssal Warden and Corebound Sentinel.
- Added Worldheart Guardian progression after the Worldheart Stabilized quest.
- Boss progression is intentionally guided by quests rather than enforced by fragile cross-mod advancement checks.
- Players may mechanically activate boss arenas simply by right-clicking the encounter terminal.
Boss Balance Pass
The Abyssal Warden and Corebound Sentinel received major balance reductions after testing.
Abyssal Warden
- Reduced base health to 420.
- Reduced multiplayer scaling.
- Reduced slam, leap, pull, shard, eruption, and Collapse pressure.
- Reduced hazard count.
- Added longer recovery windows between major attacks.
Corebound Sentinel
- Reduced base health to 560.
- Reduced multiplayer scaling.
- Reduced Core Anchor health and scaling.
- Reduced shield absorption to 90%.
- Reduced damage, knockback, movement escalation, and attack pressure.
The Excavation Overseer was intentionally left unchanged.
Boss Rewards
- Added unique first-kill rewards for OREBOUND’s major bosses.
- Added Worldheart Essence.
- Added the Master Excavation Core endgame reward.
- Added compatibility so players who already crafted previous boss Curios can still use those items toward the Master Excavation Core instead of needing an unused original boss drop.
Respawn Improvements
- Fixed players occasionally respawning on OREBOUND’s upper bedrock roof.
- Players without a valid bed now return to the underground Origin.
- Valid beds and custom spawn points remain fully supported.
New Multiplayer Start Lobby
- Added a hidden multiplayer setup lobby.
- New players can safely wait there until a server’s OREBOUND start configuration has been created.
- Added lobby signs explaining how the system works.
- Added
/startoreboundserver setup and administration commands.
Equal Multiplayer Start Rooms
Multiplayer players no longer have to share one Growth Chamber.
Every configured start room now receives its own equivalent OREBOUND survival start, including:
- starter room
- Growth Chamber
- farm plots
- trees and wood
- starter supplies
- Ecology Cache
- Coal, Copper, and Iron starter resources
This means multiple players or teams can begin the pack independently without one player receiving a major progression advantage.
OREBOUND still maintains one technical/canonical Origin for world-generation and progression calculations.
Automatic Multiplayer Assignment
- New players are automatically assigned to available start rooms.
- Players are automatically teleported to their assigned room.
- Assignments persist between server restarts.
- Assigned rooms also serve as the player’s fallback respawn when no valid bed exists.
- Added manual assignment, reassignment, cleanup, reset, and room-management commands for server administrators.
Start Room Generation Improvements
- Start suites are verified before use.
- Missing rooms automatically regenerate.
- Existing test layouts automatically migrate to the current layout.
- Added clearer room and lobby signage.
- Improved horizontal and vertical room spacing.
- Removed the older shared-ladder dependency.
- Fixed old starter barrels dropping duplicated contents into the world during migration or cleanup.
- Removing unused rooms now safely removes their generated starter resources as well.
ProjectE Fixes
- Corrected the late-game ProjectE restriction so it targets EMC/Transmutation progression without interfering with ordinary mining, combat, or ProjectE tool use.
Steel Pickaxe Compatibility Check
- Reviewed the Steel Pickaxe’s OREBOUND progression behavior.
- Confirmed it remains correctly positioned at Mining Power 3.
- Confirmed Dense Stone harvesting works correctly.
- Confirmed it does not bypass higher Mining Power progression.
- Confirmed its crafting, repair, and Osmium Drill Pick upgrade path.
Dedicated Server Support
- Added an OREBOUND dedicated server package.
- Target server environment:
- Minecraft 1.21.1
- NeoForge 21.1.250
- Java 21
- Audited the pack’s client/server mod requirements.
- Removed unnecessary client-only rendering and interface mods from the dedicated server package.
- Kept required shared/server-capable mods including JourneyMap.
- Added server configuration and
/startoreboundmultiplayer setup support.
Compatibility & World Notes
- Existing OREBOUND worlds remain supported.
- Newly generated chunks are required for newly generated dungeon and boss structures.
/startoreboundrooms and lobbies are generated directly by OREBOUND and do not require a new world.- Existing beds and normal multiplayer respawn behavior remain supported.
- No progression reset is required when upgrading from 0.2.1.
