OREBOUND: The World Below 0.2.0
Enforced Progression Update
OREBOUND 0.2.0 introduces one of the largest progression changes to the pack so far.
The Quest Book no longer simply recommends the intended progression order.
OREBOUND now actively enforces it.
Players had discovered that several powerful mods could be accessed far earlier than intended, allowing large portions of the mining and resource progression to be skipped.
0.2.0 introduces Chapter-Locked Technology to solve that problem.
Mods Now Unlock With Progression
Major technologies are now tied directly to OREBOUND's Main Progression.

Chapter 9 — Quantum Industry
Unlocks:
- ProjectE
Why ProjectE Is Late Game
ProjectE is intentionally locked until Chapter 9.
Once EMC and transmutation become available, a player can reproduce large amounts of material extremely quickly.
Allowing ProjectE early would remove much of the reason to:
- Prospect for Resource Seams
- Explore deeper strata
- Build stronger Miners
- Unlock higher Mining Power
- Progress through processing chains
- Continue discovering new resources
ProjectE remains available as a powerful late-game reward without replacing the progression that leads to it.
Locked Items Are Not Deleted
Progression locking does not destroy items.
If you obtain something before its chapter:
- You can keep it
- It remains in your inventory
- It becomes usable once its chapter is unlocked
Attempting to place a locked block simply refuses the placement and immediately keeps the item in your hotbar or inventory.
Locked Actions
Before reaching the required chapter, gated technology may prevent:
- Block placement
- Machine interaction
- Tool use
- Weapon use
- Equipment use
- Armor equipping
The item tooltip tells you which chapter is required.
Attempting to use it also displays an OREBOUND progression message.
Guide Books Still Work
Mod guide books remain readable before their associated technology unlocks.
This means players can still use the Mod Guide Books section to learn upcoming systems without gaining access to the machines themselves.
New Mining Help Entry
Mining Help now includes a Chapter Locked Technology explanation covering:
- Why some items are locked
- How chapter unlocks work
- How to identify an item's required chapter
- Why OREBOUND enforces technology progression
Creative Mode Testing
Creative mode bypasses progression locks.
This allows testing, building, screenshots, and pack development without needing to manually unlock every chapter.
Existing Worlds
No new world is required.
Existing:
- Bases
- Resource Seams
- Dungeons
- Mining relics
- Homes
- Quest progress
- Machines
- Player inventories
remain intact.
Already-placed machines are not removed, although interaction may be restricted until their required chapter is reached.
