NightWard

A heavily modded RPG with a custom mob level system and seven unique classes.
It was a bit too complex to make it the icon sadly. Proud of our artist for this work!

Description

Wield the sword of the Warrior’s might,
Or the Mage’s spells that illuminate night,
Walk as an Assassin, unseen in the shade,
Or wield the Marksman’s guns as your enemies fade.

Let the Archer’s arrows fly straight and true,
Or sing as a Bard while your beasts fight for you.

Come from the heavens to collect forgotten debts

All paths can travel this world full of threats

Full of dungeons and bosses; full of frets and regrets

As you fight, the monsters get stronger and stronger

You'll need to progress to last any bit longer

And when you reach the end,

There lies not a friend;

The arbiter of the Night

Shall be your ultimate, final fight

And perhaps the key to the Final Light

Your legend begins in NightWard tonight

What makes NightWard worth the heavy toll it might take on weaker computers?

-Multiplayer fully integrated: While NightWard also supports single-player, it also has many multiplayer only mechanics implemented in. Bosses have health that scale to the amount of players, chests generate new loot for each player, and much more! Additionally, this modpack has a built-in long distance multiplayer, which we tested performs well across countries. You don't need to rely on LAN anymore.

-A progression that feels good: Instead of blocking parts of the world to slow your progression, this world is completely open for exploration, full of dungeons to conquer and pretty biomes. You don't have to spend an hour trying to get a stone axe. You can actually get stronger and ramp, with awesome animations and flashy skills. And you won't get too overpowered either; (see below)

-Our custom mob leveling system: We've implemented a custom mob leveling system unique to this modpack. Even as you get stronger, but mobs get stronger too, so you'll never become too overpowered to where it's boring.

-Heavy optimization: Though it might take a toll on weaker computers, this modpack is heavily optimized. Just note that because this is extremely heavy modding, you can expect things like loading the creative inventory might freeze for a couple seconds because there's so many items to load. Same thing with loading worlds for the first time.

-Our 7, distinct classes: I've always loved the idea of organizing people, where each person can have their own task, their own niche, their own monopoly. In NightWard, each of the classes has a distinct playstyle and each class has a different method of progression, making every class feel vastly different. A lot of modpacks force you to mix combat or use the RPG series mod, which is cool, but all the classes feel too similar. In this modpack, if you get bored of one class, you can just try a different class and get a whole new playstyle. Every class uses a different set of mods made by different authors, ensuring their unique developments.

-Custom modifications: This modpack isn't just a mesh of cool mods, Not only did we code our own server scripts to add new mechanics, but we also changed config files, fixed bugs within mod files, and imported fabric mods into forge. These are things that take both time and knowledge, and few modpacks go through the effort to have these modifications.

-There's a lot more! We also have:

-250+ mods

-200+ custom quests, including some hidden quests

-A questline for each class

-Custom written KubeJS scripts that add custom mechanics

-Post game

-Fabric mods in forge

-A large skill tree complete with custom abilities and specializations

-Equipment can have unique abilities and mechanics (Apotheosis)

-500+ new mobs

-300+ structures

-Custom structures integrated into loot

-QoL - Waystones, etc

-And much more!

This modpack features a custom leveling system where mobs level up. To keep up with them, you'll have to level up too - collecting powerful skills, rare artifacts, and strange objects.

Tip: Take a look at your controls. We put in our most generic preferred controls, but each class has different keybind they might want to use, and you might have personal preferences too. (If you're an assassin or archer, we recommend leaving toggle sneak on as caps lock. You'll want shift for other things, and you want toggle sneak to look in your inventory while still stealthy.

This modpack was made for multiplayer, but has singleplayer in mind as well.

This modpack has 6 classes: the warrior, the mage, the archer, the bard, the assassin, and the marksman. If the game doesn't offer you a starterkit at the start, run "/sk give [target player]" in the chat.

The warrior (primary mods: EpicFight, Marium's Soulslike Weaponry) is best for new players, as well as super sweaty players. The warrior is overall pretty simple, but allows for a lot of optimization; a well optimized warrior is stronger than any of the other classes. It is recommended to choose the berserker (all-rounder), crusader (very tanky), spellblade (high mobility+inflicts debuffs) or rogue (high damage if concealed) skill paths.

The mage (primary mod: Irons Spells n' Spellbooks) is great for players who want to learn a whole new system. As the most versatile class, the mage can cast spells with uses from mobility to support to combat and even to mining! The wizard or cleric path is most recommended. The mage also has their own skill trees related to magic.

The archer (primary mods: archers, archers expansion, xtra arrows) is the primary damage dealer of the party, possessing immense single-target damage. Landing headshots deals double damage in the default modpack. The ranger path is most recommended, obviously.

The bard (primary mods: domestication innovation, rats, alex's mobs, totemic, bard craft, Irons Spells n' Spellbooks) utilizes pets and summons to deal damage - and then buffs them further with music from Totemic and bard craft! Basically, a puppetmaster or commander. The necromancer (for summons) or the ranger (for pets) are most recommended. The ranger has a specific path for pets. This class is the most laggy due to its reliance on many entities.

The assassin (primary mods: demi's better stealth, spartan weaponry, dungeons and combat) sneaks up to foes to eliminate them silently and efficiently. The rogue path is most recommended.

The marksman (primary mods: scorched guns 2, mariums soulslike weaponry) is essentially a modern soldier. Utilizing guns, grenades, etc, you might find that modern technology in a fantasy-style RPG is quite fun. Ammo is a bit limited though, so a secondary weapon is recommended. No skill specialisation path quite fits the marksman, so choose your path based on your secondary weapon.

The Celestial (primary mods: Draconic Evolution, Enigmatic Legacy) has come to conquer this world. Utilizing artifacts that aren't supposed to be obtainable in the overworld, the celestial's power doesn't belong in this world. The Celestial walks their own path, separate from the skill paths.

Note: if a section starts with "How to . . ." that section can be skipped if you do not wish to alter the modpack and wish to learn as you go.

How to invite players to your world: press esc, click "Invite" on the right side of the screen, and choose as you wish. If you're on the same internet as your friend, I recommend using vanilla Minecraft's LAN instead.

How to enable/disable shaders: press esc, go to video settings, then go to shaders, and enable/disable the shaders. There's also a keybind but it's disabled by default.

How to edit the progression rate of mobs (to make them weaker or stronger): click the three dots on the modpack; then, enable content management; click the three dots again and click "open folder"; double click on config (if it isn't there, try launching the modpack and then checking again). Find "autoleveling", right click on it, and change the numbers for the stats that mobs increase. You can also change rate that mobs level up.

How to utilize the disabled mods: You may also notice there are a lot of disabled mods. Most of the disabled mods are either too laggy or considered not as fun. However, feel free to enable them if you wish. The exception is headshot respawn, which is disabled because there are two headshot mods. Since the other headshot mod, Headshot Bonus, is less laggy, Headshot Respawn was chosen to be enabled for purposes of most optimization.

The final boss of the modpack is The NightWarden, a mysterious being found in the end, who becomes immune to damage types as it gets damaged, so having many damage types is very important - perfect for a party of different classes!

If you need more midgame to endgame challenge, go look for the ice arena or the sky arena from Demi's Sky Arena.

For content creators from YouTube, etc: You are completely free to use this modpack in your videos as long as you do not redistribute its custom assets and as long as you link the modpack in your description.

Have fun! Feel free to leave any feedback, bug reports, suggestions, etc.
