Mesozoic Modpack — Pre-Beta 2

Transform Minecraft into a prehistoric expedition. Mesozoic combines exploration, dinosaurs, extinct mammals, and scientific research in a modpack developed for Minecraft 1.20.1.

Encounter creatures such as *Tyrannosaurus*, *Triceratops*, *Brachiosaurus*, mammoths, and *Smilodon*; explore prehistoric-inspired environments; and set up your research base. Laboratory machines, tools, and vehicles help shape your expedition.
What you'll find in the modpack

Prehistoric fauna: dinosaurs, flying reptiles, aquatic creatures, and extinct mammals, featuring 3D models and unique behaviors. 
Scientific research: fossils, biological materials, and equipment for DNA analysis and processing. 
An expedition base: machines, tools, and vehicles, including a UTV and a research helicopter. 
Mesozoic Encyclopedia: a custom mod guide provided upon each player's first entry into the world. 
Expanded exploration: mods for structures, terrain generation, and navigation enhance the experience. 
Custom interface: main menu featuring Mesozoic branding and local features. 
Original soundtrack: Mesozoic music that accompanies the adventure and can also be played on the jukebox.

What's new in Pre-Beta 2

This update adds six craftable music discs featuring the mod's original tracks. When a disc is played in a jukebox, the Mesozoic ambient music gives way to the chosen track.

Audio coverage has also been expanded, adding ambient, damage, and death sounds for the 38 recorded creature types. Ambient vocalizations now include pauses and limits for nearby animal groups, reducing repetitive roaring. Intervals and volume can be adjusted in the settings.

The sounds of extinct animals are artistic recreations, not authentic recordings of these species. The update utilizes existing audio and new CC0 assets, with credits included in the package.
Installation

Import the modpack file via the CurseForge app and allow the launcher to install the referenced files. This version runs on Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47.4.23, and Java 17.

To play in multiplayer, ensure both the client and server use the same version of Mesozoic and compatible gameplay components. Shaders are client-side features; the pack includes Complementary Reimagined r5.9.3, which can be disabled in the video settings.

The CurseForge release of Pre-Beta 2 contains 29 mods and does not include the VeinMiner mod used in the development instance.
Development and credits

Mesozoic is currently under development. Pre-Beta 2 may still require adjustments regarding balance, visuals, and compatibility; the experience may vary depending on hardware and shader settings.
