Minecraft Family Edition b20

This one's a big one! MCFE has taken a step it's been waiting on for a while: the pack has moved up to a newer version of NeoForge, and a whole crowd of mods that were patiently waiting at the door can finally come in. Grab something warm to drink, here's what's new.

A little heads up for existing worlds: a mod with its own items has left the pack this time. Anything from it will disappear when you load in, so tuck away what you care about (and maybe make a backup) before updating.

The Big Step

• NeoForge 21.1.254: the foundation everything else stands on. If you install manually or run your own private server, you'll want this version.
• Supplementaries, Quark and Field Guide are back on their newest versions! Last time we said they'd come along together when the pack took this step, and here they are.

Added

• Steam 'n' Rails: lots of new tracks, signals and train bits for everyone building railways with Create.
• Nyf's Spiders: spiders now crawl with properly animated legs and can scurry along walls and ceilings.

From the MCFE Workshop

Hauled to Hearth

• Rescue markers! When you're carried home, a little sapling now marks the spot where it happened, with a full tree standing behind it, so you can always find your way back.
• Hauled to Hearth now comes straight from CurseForge with the pack.

MCFE Arborist

• Stardust: diamond veins now hide a few flecked blocks that drop stardust along with their diamond. Four stardust make an Inert Star. Set it on a blackstone pedestal under the open sky on a full moon, and after a harmless flash of lightning, you'll have a nether star.
• Moon rituals: the pedestal can also gently transform a few other things by moonlight. A feather becomes a phantom membrane, a water bottle becomes a ghast tear, a lightning rod becomes a blaze rod, and purpur becomes a shulker shell. Peaceful players finally have fight-free ways to get all of these!
• Inert Stars and nether stars can be placed as little decorations.
• Cactus leather now works anywhere regular leather does.
• MCFE's own resource pack now lives inside Arborist, so it's always on and always in the right spot.

Loam & Vessel

• The "Squared" update: square pots join the family, along with Plushables decor.

Chickens Shed Reforged

• Chickens now shed feathers half as often, so your coop floor stays a little tidier.

Resting for Now

• ParCool is staying on its current version on purpose. The newest release is all flips and tricks, and in MCFE, ParCool is here to help little ones climb trees.
• Scholar is waiting for Sketchbook to catch up, so the two keep working together.
• Small Ships is staying put for now, since its newest version doesn't get along with another mod's boats yet. We're letting the Small Ships team know.

Removed

• Stardew Fishing: it made fishing more interesting, but it turned out to be more fiddly than fun. Fishing is back to being a relaxing afternoon.
• Chamber Extra Biomes has been retired from the pack.
• Copper Age Backport Duplicate Armor Material Fix: Copper Age Backport now includes this fix itself, so the little patch has retired with our thanks.

Fixed

• Winter ice that refused to melt: Serene Seasons was freezing a wider ring around players than it was thawing, so ice could linger right through summer. Now it thaws as far as it freezes.
