LAST GASP
You are a crew member on the Long-Term 'Hybrid Experimental Living' Deep-Space Station, 'Niflheim'. As the name suggests this station was created to test the effects of living long-term in space, completely autonomously. You, however, were part of a special group: you volunteered to undergo an experimental cryogenic sleep test, to be woken up at periodic intervals for examination. You were one of the best of Humanity.
You closed your eyes, settled back into the cryo chamber, and waited. There would be no dreams, no sense of time passing at all. You just wait for another moment and then...
You open your eyes.
..and nobody is there.
About:
Last Gasp is a questing modpack set in a completely handbuild world - or rather, space, being an Advanced Rocketry space station. You will be following along your own story, while gradually working out what happened to leave you as the last person to be found on the station. Unlike the usual questbook fare however, the quests in this pack are not 'here's a list of every item to craft', but a set of goals guiding the player along progression and through the story. The player will need to figure out a lot of what to do, and how they want to do it, themselves - using JEI properly is key, as many changes have been made to how to do and obtain things. As progression continues, multiple ways of doing things will open up too, letting the player choose how they wish to focus between tech and magic towards reaching their end goal - discovering what led to their situation and escaping it. There is also no combat involved (note: may be some later in progression) as no mobs will spawn where you can go, and obtaining resources will revolve primarily around Mystical Agriculture and Agricraft. The most limited resource the player will have, however, is living space.
This pack is supposed to essentially evoke a sense of nostalgia of the packs that I fell in love with Minecraft with, especially so a love letter to Regrowth, but done my own way and using my own ideas. Or at least, it provides that to me as I make it. I fully assume it's going to be niche as heck, but if anyone else plays it and enjoys it, I'll consider that a success.
Mods:
The primary mods the player will be using can be broken up into two halves that will heavily mesh together over time. On the magic side, the player will be heavily using Blood Magic, Botania, Thaumcraft and Astral Sorcery, while on the tech side, Engineer's Decor, Pneumaticcraft, Emerging Technology, and Immersive Engineering, with relatively minor support from Mekanism, Galacticraft, Advanced Rocketry, Actually Additions, TechGuns and Matter Overdrive and assorted others. These will be rounded out by multiblocks that will merge magic and technology together. Largely, recipes will be dramatically altered and everything will do things it never was meant to before!
Current State:
As of writing this, the current state of the pack is that what I consider to be 'phase 2' is complete. Phase 3 will involve developing finer technology through Mekanism and more and more complex multiblocks and working with Astral Sorcery, and finding the solution to the mystery of the state of things. So, there's still a fair bit of work to go.
Due to the nature of being a premade map, updates may require starting over - the full release will almost certainly do so, due to me adding little touches to the world for lore and flavour, so please keep that in mind if you playtest.
