Bring prehistoric creatures back to life and build the expedition base around them.

Jurassic Expedition combines dinosaur genetics and exploration with a selection of technology and survival mods. Use jurassic prelude: prehistoric to revive dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures, then build your own research base, park or survival settlement around the adventure.

What you can do

• Prehistoric discovery: jurassic prelude: prehistoric provides the dinosaur and genetics theme. Follow the installed mod's recipes and progression as you develop your research setup.
• A working research base: Mekanism, the Thermal Series, Industrial Foregoing and Extreme Reactors provide machinery, processing and power systems.
• Storage and resources: Applied Energistics 2, MEGA Cells, Storage Drawers, Iron Chests and Mystical Agriculture help supply larger projects.
• An expedition beyond the lab: Oh The Biomes You'll Go, Alex's Mobs, Aquaculture, Artifacts and Towns and Towers add biomes, wildlife and exploration content.
• Build and travel: SecurityCraft and Supplementaries expand your base-building options. Sophisticated Backpacks, Traveler's Backpack, Nature's Compass and Waystones support exploration.

Getting started

1. Install this modpack through the CurseForge app and choose the release you want to play.
2. Launch its profile with Java 17. Keep the bundled mod versions and configuration together.
3. For multiplayer, all players need the same modpack release as the server.

Updating: Back up your worlds before updating. Use a separate profile to try a new release before moving an existing world.

Hosting a server

Open Files, select release 2026.10.01, then download its matching Server Pack from Additional Files. Every player still needs the full client modpack.

1. Extract the server ZIP into an empty folder and install 64-bit Java 17.
2. Run install.bat on Windows or sh install.sh on Linux/macOS. The official Forge installer downloads the required server files.
3. Read the Minecraft EULA and accept it yourself in eula.txt if you agree.
4. Run start.bat or sh start.sh. Read README.txt for hosting and update instructions.

The supplied scripts use a 4 GB memory limit as a starting point; adjust it for your host and player count. Client and server must use the same release.

Mod information & support

The selected release determines the exact mod versions. Check its Relations/Dependencies and the mod list included in the export for the full list. Gameplay details and recipes depend on those versions.

For pack issues, leave a project comment with the modpack release, Minecraft and Java versions, the steps to reproduce the problem, and the relevant crash report or log.
