What's new

Forged Through Time — Beta 0.4.0

The progression overhaul.

Version 0.4.0 is the biggest update to Forged Through Time so far. The questbook, progression stages and the connections between Tetra, Create, exploration and Fossils and Archeology have been rebuilt to make the pack clearer, harder to bypass and much more consistent from the first day to the late game.

Questbook Overhaul

Expanded the pack to 606 custom quests across 16 chapters.

Reworked the overall dependency graph and progression flow.

Reduced unnecessary manual checkmark tasks and replaced many of them with real item, advancement and Smart Filter requirements.

Improved quest descriptions, objectives, icons, rewards and dependency lines.

Added clearer milestone progression and better connections between the main branches.

Fixed disconnected quests, incorrect dependencies, duplicated requirements and misleadingobjectives.

Cleaned up invalid text formatting and remaining placeholder-style text.

Progression and Stage System

Rebuilt and audited the stage-based progression system.

Improved recipe and item-use restrictions for major progression milestones.

Fixed several cases where an item could be obtained or used before its intended stage.

Synchronized quest milestones with RecipeStages and Decursio Stages.

Improved stage handling for team play and returning multiplayer players.

Tetra and Forging

Reworked large parts of the Tetra progression to make upgrades feel more deliberate.

Improved material progression and late-game forging objectives.

Replaced many generic Tetra checks with more precise Smart Filters.

Expanded supported weapon objectives beyond swords to include compatible modular weapon types such as polearms and other melee weapons.

Improved TetraWear, tool, weapon and mastery objectives.

Reduced repeated tasks that asked the player to prove the same equipment tier multiple times.

Create — Age of Machines

Reworked Create progression for a clearer path from early kinetic power to advanced industry.

Improved the order of mechanical and Brass-era milestones to remove awkward or circular progression.

Revised automation, logistics, processing and factory objectives.

Reduced repetitive inventory checks in favor of actual engineering progression.

Improved cross-mod integration quests and late-game industrial goals.

Fossils and Archeology

Major overhaul of Echoes of the Past and Prehistoric Species.

Added and validated progression for all 64 prehistoric creatures available in the installed Fossils and Archeology version.

Reorganized species into more logical research branches, including early species, giants, flyers, ancient seas, apex predators, terror birds and Cenozoic creatures.

Reworked laboratory quests to use actual Fossils and Archeology items instead of unrelated vanilla placeholders.

Improved DNA, Bio-Goo, Analyzer, Culture Vat, Dinopedia and prehistoric research objectives.

Fixed several incorrect creature placements and progression requirements.

Improved the final collection and paleontology mastery objectives.

Exploration and Vanilla Progression

Improved the connection between exploration and the main progression paths.

Fixed distance-based quests so Minecraft statistics are interpreted at the correct scale.

Fixed altitude objectives such as Above the Clouds.

Improved Iron Age and later equipment restrictions.

Fixed missing restrictions for items such as the Crossbow and Hopper Minecart.

UI, Text and Cinematics

Added or improved cinematics for major progression milestones.

Increased the clarity of milestone presentation.

Replaced overly visible command-block-style quest icons.

Fixed invalid FTB Quests formatting caused by special characters in titles and descriptions.

Cleaned up quest text, subtitles and task names across the pack.

Multiplayer

Improved team progression behavior for the quest edition.

Team members share quest progress while normal rewards remain individual.

Milestone stages are granted per player and can be recovered when a teammate rejoins after being offline.

A dedicated Multiplayer / Server Pack is now available with unnecessary client-only mods removed.

Sandbox Edition

A separate Sandbox Edition is now available for players who want the content of Forged Through Time without progression restrictions.

Sandbox Edition includes:

no questbook progression,

no GameStages,

no staged recipes or item-use restrictions,

unrestricted Create, Tetra and Fossils and Archeology progression,
