Dimension Shenanigans

This modpack adds some crazy new dimensions and has plenty of mods to get into some real shenanigans with your friends.

Some of the dimensions include:

• Floating islands that when fallen off of transport you back into the overworld (to likely die from fall damage)

• A starry dimension that scales 20x smaller than the overworld that can be used for long distance travel - but is hard to get to the first time.

• A dangerous mining dimension with a lot of loot, but also monsters that want to kill you very badly.

and more that would be revealed in the context of the game. (Or the config files. But don’t look at those for no spoilers.)

Main Features:

This is a very Tinkers-focused modpack. Vanilla tools and armor are disabled, so you must not simply craft your tools but forge them. Really just cuz it feels cooler.

Also you can’t punch trees. First you gotta slowly punch dirt for a rock, gravel for a flint, leaves for a stick, right-click flint on ground for flint-shard, make flint knife, cut grass with knife for fiber, use fiber to make string to make hatchet, and then you may *hatchet* a tree. And then it will fall down like the awesome dynamic tree that it is.

Also this modpack is very difficult. In the spirit of Zelda games, you start out with a nice 3 hearts. You can permanently add hearts with heart canisters, but having experience levels gives you more hearts for while you have the experience. So you may want to store xp somewhere for when you really need it. Also monsters get harder with time, so you better make sure to be getting stronger with time. Also you need special gear/potions to keep you warm in colder climates.

Zombies also now like to travel in hordes, investigate light sources, destroy torches, and follow the scent of blood.

But the world looks beautiful! (*Especially with Optifine/Shaders*)

With Realistic Terrain Generator, Biomes O’ Plenty, and Dynamic Trees, the world looks amazing, mountains really looking like mountains, trees looking like minecraft yet still like trees. And with YUNG’s Better Caves, the caves underground are more spacious, better connected, and far more fun to explore. With Mo’ Bends animation and Shoulder Surfing Reloaded, 3rd person gameplay (and combat!!) actually feels awesome. You can use 3rd person for the whole game now if you’d like! With Dynamic Surroundings and Sound Filters, underwater sounds muted and caves sound echoey. The footstep sounds in caves are one of my favorite things. All these together really make exploration fun and (dare-I-say) immersive.

Important things to know

• Mining puts items into your inventory, and dropped items must be right clicked to be picked up. Also shifting nearby items picks them all up.

• Tough as Nails is included, but thirst is disabled by default, so all you have to worry about there is keeping warm in the cold and keeping cool in the heat.

Other Notable Mods/Features

• Quark adds tons of awesome tweaks and features you can read in all the tabs here.

• PSI adds an awesome magic element to the world.

• Blood Magic is included, but on my server I plan to make it ‘illegal’ and if anyone is caught using it they are given punishment in a trial.

• Applied Energistics 2 adds all the sweet digital storage you remember, and storage drawers add good bulk storage until you get there.

• Ender IO, Mekanism, RFTools, and OpenComputers are all here and great.

• SecretRoomsMod adds lots of sneaky features, fun for pranks and secrets. Ghost Blocks can be a secret entrance or secret pitfall. Torch-levers look like torches and work like sneaky levers.

• If your Tinker’s Armor ends up looking ugly, Cosmetic Armor adds an option to the inventory to make armor invisible... Could also be a competitive advantage if others don’t know what armor you have.

And Some More

• You can make potions and baubles to shrink and grow.

• Headshots with the bow do 4 times the damage. Also there are a lot more types of arrows.

• There’s a random chance of a bloodmoon occurrence that makes many hordes of zombies spawn on a night you can’t sleep through.

• If you die you must find and loot your own corpse.

• Quark Feature: While holding a bow, holding shift and scrolling will cycle through your arrows.

• You can pick up small animals and chests in your hands by crouch-right-clicking them with an empty hand.

• Wither Skeletons are less of a grind, they can spawn all over the nether.

• You can get xp from harvesting crops.

• Teleportation “waystones” spawn at villages and at random.

• You can make a Tool Belt - you know, for your tools.

• You can make and wear a backpack on your back. Also, you can work together and open someone else’s backpack. (Or pickpocket their backpack)

• ReAuth makes it so you don’t have to close Minecraft to re-log in, so you don’t have to worry about leaving Minecraft open too long and suddenly not being able to connect to servers.

• If two people mine a block at the same time, it breaks twice as fast. You can start mining a block, stop, then finish mining it.

I assembled this modpack with a server in mind - I intend to use this modpack as my having-fun-with-and-pranking-friends modpack. You could say that is the scope of this modpack. Fun, challenge, and shenanigans. As I develop my personal server, I will probably end up tweaking things for balance, and be sure to leave any recommendations in the comments.

FAQ

Q: Can you add *mod-name-here* to the modpack?

A: Maybe. If it fits well in the scope (fun, challenge, and shenanigans) and isn’t too big, laggy, or unstable, I will consider it.

Q: Help! Glitch! Crash!

A: This modpack is still being perfected, so knowing glitches will actually help me. Let me know and I can list them below as known issues to avoid, or see if there is a config I can fix. Otherwise, figure out which mod is causing said glitch/crash, and inform the mod author.

Q: It’s not working!

A: Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Q: Server?

A: I do not have a public server right now, but go ahead and make your own. This modpack was made with servers in mind.

Setup

Latest version of Forge 1.12.2, probably allocate some more ram if you're getting major slowdowns. (I haven’t tested much, but 3 or 4 gigs is usually a good number(you can google how to “allocate more ram” or look at this guide I randomly googled))

But really the easiest setup is to use the Twitch Launcher, install it and play it. That doesn’t take much of a guide.

I highly recommend installing Optifine and Shaders up to whatever your system can handle. I use Sildur’s Vibrant Shaders and I tested this pack with those shaders, but I’m sure others work just as well.

To install Optifine with the modpack, go to optifine.net/downloads, get the latest download for 1.12.2 and stick it in the mod folder. To find the mod folder from the Twitch Launcher you can right-click on the modpack and hit open folder, from there the mods folder is easy to find and just stick it right in there. You can then make a shaderpacks folder or load the game up with optifine and I believe it automatically makes one, then you can stick your shader packs in there.

I definitely recommend downloading the latest Mo’ Bends off their discord

I think you can download it from this link, but if not - On their discord (which is linked from their curseforge page), it’s in the Projects section, the “mo-bends” chat, and if you click “Pinned Messages” in the top-right, you can scroll down and find his Mo’ Bends .jar file from the 31st of December last year. Then stick that .jar file in the mods folder and delete the other older Mo’ Bends file (the older one should be named “mobends-0.24_for_MC-1.12.jar” I think, and the newer one should be named “MoBends-1.12.2-test-31.12.2019.jar”)

I also like the newer minecraft textures from 1.14.4 so I recommend Jappa Textures Backport and gotta have that Connected Glass too.

I also love vanillatweaks.net for the slight nice tweaks to a couple of textures, including 3D doors/ladders/rails/sugarcane and custom crosshairs. I had to manually backport some of the 1.14.4 textures to the versions that work with 1.12.2.
