Ashen Horizon turns Minecraft into a journey. You explore a rebuilt overworld of tall mountains, deep valleys and sky islands, descend into dungeons, fight bosses that need real preparation, and come back with gear that has random bonuses and special abilities. There is no Pokémon in this pack: everything is built around exploration, combat and loot.
What you will experience
A new world to explore. Terralith, Tectonic, Biomes O' Plenty, Regions Unexplored and TerraBlender rebuild terrain and biomes. Mountains rise much higher than in vanilla, biomes change every few hundred blocks, and rivers and caves carve through the land. Explorer's Compass and Nature's Compass help you find specific structures and biomes, and Waystones let you unlock fast-travel points as you go. Xaero's Minimap and World Map keep track of where you have been.
Dimensions beyond the Nether and End. Climb into the Aether, walk through the Twilight Forest, enter the Bumblezone, or descend to the Otherside from Deeper and Darker. Better Nether and Better End redesign the two vanilla dimensions with new biomes, resources and creatures.
Caves and dungeons that are worth entering. Alex's Caves adds six cave biomes with their own creatures and hazards. YUNG's Better Dungeons, Mineshafts and Strongholds, When Dungeons Arise, Dungeons & Taverns, Explorify, Explorations and Repurposed Structures fill the world with places to find. Lootr gives every player their own loot in each chest, so no one steals your reward on multiplayer.
Bosses and creatures that fight back. L_Ender's Cataclysm, Bosses of Mass Destruction, Mowzie's Mobs and Ice and Fire add large bosses with attack patterns you must learn. Alex's Mobs, Friends & Foes, Illager Invasion, Knight Quest, Aquamirae, Upgrade Aquatic and Ribbits fill biomes and oceans with new animals, enemies and villagers.
Gear that changes how you play. Apotheosis adds random affixes, gems and a deeper enchanting system. Artifacts and Relics give you trinkets with active abilities. Silent Gear lets you craft weapons and armor from parts, and Simply Swords and Spartan Weaponry add dozens of new weapons. Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks adds a full spellcasting system with schools of magic, spellbooks and scrolls.
Building, cooking and storage. Farmer's Delight brings a real kitchen. Supplementaries, Chipped, Handcrafted, Macaw's mods and FramedBlocks give you plenty of decoration. Sophisticated Backpacks and Sophisticated Storage upgrade your inventory, and Applied Energistics 2 is there if you want a digital storage network.
Quality of life. Jade shows what you are looking at, JEI shows every recipe, AppleSkin shows food values, Controlling helps with keybinds, and Better Advancements gives a cleaner advancements screen.
Performance. Sodium, Iris (shader-ready, no shader pack included), ModernFix, FerriteCore, Entity Culling and C2ME are included to keep the pack smooth despite its size.
