What's new

🎣 Ascending Fishers Server Pack 0.6.8

The Tidekeeper and Exploration Update

Minecraft 1.21.1 | NeoForge | Java 21

Version 0.6.8 is one of our largest dedicated server updates yet!

This release introduces our new modular mod architecture, expanded fishing villages, underwater dungeons, Tidekeeper Aquatics, improved ocean generation, and additional multiplayer support.

We've also updated the server mod configuration, expanded the questbook, and improved compatibility with the full Ascending Fishers 0.6.8 client modpack.

🚨 IMPORTANT — BACK UP YOUR SERVER BEFORE UPDATING!

Version 0.6.8 contains major internal changes. Please make a complete backup of your server before updating!

The original Ascending Fishers Core has been separated into three independent mods.

⚠️ IMPORTANT MOD REPLACEMENT

OLD MOD: Ascending Fishers Core — REMOVE

NEW MOD: Ascending Fishers Mod 0.1.1 — INSTALL

The server now requires:

  • Ascending Fishers Mod 0.1.1 — Main gameplay, fishing, automation, bosses, and world generation.
  • Tidekeeper Aquatics 0.1.1 — Collectible fish, aquariums, charms, and collection progression.

Ascending Fishers Pack UI 0.1.0 is client-only and should not be installed on dedicated servers.

Do not keep the original Ascending Fishers Core alongside the new modular components. This may cause mod conflicts, duplicate registrations, or startup failures.

Before updating:

  1. Stop your Minecraft server completely.
  2. Back up your world, player data, quests, configs, and existing mods.
  3. Keep a copy of your previous working server installation.
  4. Replace the old Core with the new Ascending Fishers Mod.
  5. Verify Tidekeeper Aquatics and the required server dependencies are installed.
  6. Test your existing world before resuming normal gameplay.

I've personally tested the updated setup successfully, but compatibility with every existing server and world cannot be guaranteed.

DO NOT IGNORE MISSING MOD OR REGISTRY WARNINGS!

🏘️ Expanded Fishing Villages and Settlements

The server now supports much larger and more varied fishing settlements throughout the ocean!

  • Small fishing outposts, medium settlements, and rare large fishing towns.
  • Expanded houses, docks, trading areas, workshops, storage, and villagers.
  • Six distinct village styles:
    • Traditional Fishing Port
    • Mangrove Market
    • Fortified Wharf
    • Submerged Tidehaven
    • Create Ironworks
    • Mekanism Dockyard
  • Improved structure layouts and multi-chunk generation.
  • Added real Create, Mekanism, AE2, and Powah blocks to compatible locations.
  • Improved building completeness, connected pathways, and structure placement.

Submerged Tidehaven settlements feature underwater glass habitats, connected tunnels, and research areas.

Industrial villages include themed machinery and processing equipment. These generated machines are not guaranteed to form working automated factories.

🏛️ New Underwater Dungeons

The ocean now contains larger and more dangerous underwater exploration structures!

Six Dungeon Styles

  • Tidal Citadel
  • Drowned Crypt
  • Coral Labyrinth
  • Abyssal Shrine
  • Create Clockwork Vault
  • Mekanism Reactor Ruin

Dungeon Features

  • Larger enclosed underwater structures.
  • Interconnected chambers and corridors.
  • Drowned and Guardian encounters.
  • Monster spawners and optional Elder Guardian minibosses.
  • Treasure chambers containing valuable resources.
  • Additional loot and equipment from supported technology mods.
  • Improved underwater depth and structure placement.

Dungeons are intended to provide meaningful rewards for players exploring beyond their starting island.

🐟 Tidekeeper Aquatics Multiplayer Support

Tidekeeper Aquatics is now an independent required gameplay mod for the server.

Included Features

  • 24 collectible fish across 12 water types.
  • Tidekeeper's Rod and Tidekeeper's Table.
  • Twelve water-specific charms.
  • Master Tidekeeper Charm with selectable effects.
  • Aquarium blocks and connected aquarium storage.
  • Persistent collection progression and reward tracking.

Tidekeeper fishing operates separately from normal resource fishing.

The server handles the underlying gameplay, collection data, aquarium storage, and multiplayer interactions.

📖 Questbook Updates

The server questbook has been expanded from 49 to 50 chapters.

New Optional Tidekeeper Content

  • New Tidekeeper Fish and Aquariums chapter.
  • Collection objectives covering all 24 fish.
  • Tidekeeper's Table progression.
  • Aquarium crafting, connections, and fish displays.
  • Optional Tidekeeper's Rod quest near the beginning of the game.

Existing main progression, Mod Guides, Beyond the Trophy, boss progression, and automation objectives remain intact.

The new Tidekeeper quests are optional and do not block normal progression.

Server owners should verify existing player quest progress after updating.

🌊 Improved Ocean Generation and Exploration

  • Improved underwater terrain, hills, ridges, and ravines.
  • Expanded ocean structure generation.
  • Adjusted structure distribution to approximately 448-block site regions.
  • Improved placement of larger villages and dungeons.
  • Added deeper underwater exploration locations.
  • Improved Ocean Survival world-generation behavior.
  • Preserved protections around starting areas and important boss locations.
  • Expanded treasure rewards for standalone and full modpack installations.

New structures and terrain changes primarily appear in newly generated chunks. Existing explored areas will not automatically regenerate.

🧭 New Server Exploration Commands

Added commands for locating specific villages and dungeons.

  • /afstructuretypes — Displays available structure types.
  • /aflocatetown — Locates specific fishing settlements.
  • /aflocatedungeon — Locates specific underwater dungeons.

Examples:

/aflocatetown create_ironworks

/aflocatetown submerged_tidehaven

/aflocatedungeon tidal_citadel

/aflocatedungeon mekanism_reactor_ruin

These commands support structure-type autocomplete and require operator permission level 2.

They locate predicted structure locations, which may require newly generated chunks.

⚙️ Server Mod and Compatibility Improvements

The dedicated server mod list has been reviewed to improve functionality while removing unnecessary client-only components.

Updated Server Configuration

  • Previous server configuration: 135 mods.
  • Additional server-support mods: 6.
  • Updated server configuration: 141 mods.

Additional Server Support

  • TrashSlot
  • Just Enough Items
  • AE2 JEI Integration
  • Refined Storage JEI Integration
  • Mezz Config
  • Spawn Overlay

Additional improvements include:

  • Updated modular Core compatibility.
  • Improved optional technology integrations.
  • Preserved fishing, equipment, automation, and boss systems.
  • Continued Tidehound multiplayer support.
  • Preserved KubeJS scripts, recipes, and quest progression systems.
  • Improved server-side structure generation.

Client-only features such as custom menus, shaders, and graphical enhancements remain available through the full client modpack.

The server and client do not need identical mod counts, but all required gameplay mod versions must be compatible.

💾 Backups and Existing World Compatibility

FTB Backups remains configured for:

  • Automatic backups every 60 minutes.
  • Retention of three automatic backups.

These automatic backups do not replace a permanent manual backup before updating!

Existing worlds should retain their previous structures and explored terrain. New exploration content will generally appear in unexplored chunks.

Because of the major modularization changes, server owners should verify player inventories, custom equipment, aquarium data, quest progression, and existing machines after updating.

⚠️ Final Server Update Reminder

Before updating to version 0.6.8:

  1. Back up your entire server!
  2. Remove the old Ascending Fishers Core!
  3. Install Ascending Fishers Mod 0.1.1!
  4. Install Tidekeeper Aquatics 0.1.1!
  5. Do not install the client-only Pack UI on your server!
  6. Verify your server files and dependencies match the 0.6.8 client modpack.
  7. Check your server logs and existing world before continuing normal gameplay.

Thank you to everyone hosting, playing, testing, and supporting Ascending Fishers!

This update provides a much stronger foundation for multiplayer exploration and future development.
