zHunters Waypoints
zHunters Waypoints is a lightweight waypoint mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 Fabric, designed for players who want waypoint functionality without using a minimap or world map.
If you prefer exploring the world naturally but still want an easy way to mark important locations, zHunters Waypoints lets you create customizable markers that remain visible in the world, showing their name, icon, color, distance, and whether the destination is above or below you.
Waypoints can be kept personal or shared with your Minecraft team, making the mod useful for both singleplayer exploration and multiplayer servers.
Features
- In-World Waypoints — Mark locations and see their name, icon, color, distance, and vertical direction directly in the world.
- Personal Waypoints — Create private waypoints that are only available to you.
- Team Waypoints — Share waypoints with members of your Minecraft scoreboard team for easier multiplayer coordination.
- Custom Colors — Choose waypoint colors with a visual color wheel, brightness control, or precise RGB values.
- Custom Icons — Choose between different marker icons to make locations easier to recognize.
- Long-Distance Markers — Waypoints remain visible even at very large distances, helping you navigate back to important locations without a fixed render-distance limit.
- Vertical Direction Indicators — Waypoints can show whether the destination is above or below your current position.
- Smart Marker Positioning — Waypoint markers remain readable without following the player's vertical camera movement.
- Automatic Overlap Handling — Waypoints that appear close together on screen are automatically spaced to improve readability.
- Individual Visibility Controls — Hide or show specific waypoints from the in-world HUD without deleting them.
- Global HUD Toggle — Quickly hide all waypoint markers to clear the screen, then restore them when needed.
- Optional Visibility Keybind — Toggle the waypoint HUD with a configurable keybind that is unassigned by default.
- Persistent Visibility Settings — Individual and global waypoint visibility preferences are saved on the client.
- Dimension-Aware — Waypoints are associated with the dimension where they were created.
- Persistent World Identity — Each world uses its own persistent identity so waypoints stay correctly separated even when different worlds share the same name.
- Improved Server Storage — Waypoints remain associated with the same server world even if the server address or port changes.
- Per-World Team Waypoints — Shared team waypoints are stored separately for each world instead of using a single global file.
- Automatic Migration — Existing waypoint data from previous versions is migrated to the newer storage system when possible.
- Responsive Interface — The waypoint editor automatically adapts to different window and GUI sizes.
- No Minimap or World Map — Adds waypoint functionality without displaying surrounding terrain or giving players a map of unexplored areas.
Controls
Press M by default to open the waypoint menu.
The menu keybind can be changed at any time through Minecraft's Controls settings.
A separate keybind is available for quickly hiding or showing the waypoint HUD. This keybind is unassigned by default, allowing players to choose a key that does not conflict with other mods.
Waypoints can also be hidden individually using the visibility button in the waypoint interface.
