Wuffles Modpack Check

Unlisted
Lightweight server-side mod that enforces a strict whitelist of allowed mods and resource packs using SHA-256 file hashes. Detects modified/cheating jars and packs.

Simple Mod & Resource Pack Whitelist is a lightweight anti-cheat / server protection mod for Minecraft 1.12.2 that forces every joining client to match an exact list of approved mods and resource packs.

Unlike simple name-based checks, this mod verifies SHA-256 hashes of the actual jar and resource pack files. Even if a player renames a cheating mod or slightly modifies a resource pack, it will be detected and the player will be kicked.

Features

  • Mod whitelist with SHA-256 hash verification
  • Resource pack whitelist with hash verification
  • Easy whitelist generation from a clean client
  • Detects modified / replaced mod jars and resource packs
  • Configurable kick message
  • Optional: allow extra client-side mods (only blocks forbidden ones)
  • Optional: disable resource pack enforcement
  • Detailed cheat logging (per player) saved to config/simplewhitelist/cheatlogs/
  • Very lightweight – no performance impact

How it works

  1. On a clean client that has exactly the mods + resource packs you want to allow, the mod generates a whitelist_generated.json file.
  2. Copy that file to the server as config/simplewhitelist/whitelist.json.
  3. When a player joins, the client automatically sends the list of its mods and resource packs (with hashes) to the server.
  4. The server compares everything against the whitelist.
  5. Any unauthorized or modified file → instant kick + logged.

Configuration (config/simplewhitelist.cfg)

Option Default Description
enforceResourcePacks true Also check resource packs
allowExtraClientMods false Allow extra mods that are not on the whitelist (only block known bad ones)
kickMessage Customizable Message shown when a player is kicked
whitelistFileName whitelist.json Name of the whitelist file

Installation

Server + Client required (the client must have the mod so it can send the mod/pack list).

  1. Install the mod on both the server and every client.
  2. Join a world once with a clean client → a whitelist_generated.json will be created.
  3. Move/rename it to config/simplewhitelist/whitelist.json on the server.
  4. Restart the server (or reload config).

Recommended Use Cases

  • Private / semi-private servers that want strict control
  • Servers that ban specific client-side cheats / x-ray resource packs
  • Any server that wants to prevent players from using modified mod jars
