What's new

Wild Hunt 0.4.0

The guild grows. This update is about what you build: into your gear, and around your hall.

New: Sigils

  • Gear now has sockets. Weapons carry one to three, armour one to three per piece, and a sigil set in a socket gives its trait: more attack, a critical chance, more element power, resistance to an element, health, defence, speed, knockback resistance, roar guard, a faster gauge, better healing, or an extra gather.
  • Twenty-two sigils in four grades — Rough, Worked, Fine, Flawless — forged at the Smithy from the materials you already carve, across ranks 1 to 6. Rare order boxes hold a Rough one now and then.
  • The Smithy has a second tab, Fitting: your worn gear on the left, its sockets on the right, the sigils in your bag below. Set one, take one out, and see your set bonuses and the sum of every trait in one place.
  • Tooltips show a piece's sockets and what is set in them; a sigil's tooltip shows its grade, what it fits and what it gives.
  • Everything you already own has its sockets. Existing sets and their skills are unchanged; sigils stack on top.

New: Three armour sets

  • Skarn, Kharzul and Maegroth sets, forged from their monsters at ranks 2, 4 and 5. Each is a full GeckoLib model with glowing details.
  • Each carries its monster's element and its monster's flaw, and its own skills at two, three and four pieces: Skarn gives Fleetfoot, Earplugs and Fulgur Charge; Kharzul gives Resentment, Earplugs and Undying; Maegroth gives Divine Blessing, Earplugs and Rime Edge.

New: The Guild Hall grows

  • The Receptionist has a third tab, Hall. Pay for an expansion and a real building goes up beside the hall in the world: the Canteen to the east, the Herb Garden to the west, the Training Yard behind.
  • Canteen: a meal station at the counter serves three meals — Hunter's Roast, Herb Stew, Guild Loaf — from meat, herbs and bread, ten minutes each.
  • Garden: beds of wild herb behind a fence. Pick what you need; the beds grow back after a few hunts.
  • Training Yard: three dummies that take every hit, never break and never move, and show your damage numbers.
  • Each expansion has a second level with a bigger building: the Canteen gains a second kitchen and two more meals (Moorhorn Cut, Ember Broth), the Garden twice the beds with berry bushes and a well, the Yard five coaching dummies that count your hits, damage and damage per second after each bout — the place to test a weapon, an element or a set of sigils.
  • Builds only at Guild Halls in the world, not in the hub. Whoever pays, everyone at that hall gets the building.

Changed

  • Skarn's attacks have been reanimated from the ground up: anticipation, weight and follow-through on every move, and every hit lands on the frame the animation shows. The other monsters follow in later updates.
  • Hits from monsters no longer fire before their animations reach you; every boss's attack timing is synced to the animation.
  • The hired hunters (Rook, Brann, Ilse) have been retired. Something better is coming to fill that role.
  • Right-click with a weapon in hand now works on the Receptionist, the Smithy and a carcass. No more switching to an empty hand.
  • Press J to hide or show the chapter-and-orders panel; it remembers your choice. F1 hides it too.

Fixes

  • A staggered monster could freeze for good and never recover. Fixed for Skarn, Kharzul, Vorrath and Maegroth.
  • The Smithy's Forge tab shows an item's full tooltip on hover, so you can see what a sigil, weapon or piece of armour does before you forge it.
  • The Hall tab's cost list no longer runs into the buttons.
