## 🎉 Version 1.0.0-Beta — First Public Beta

**Released:** October 12, 2026

Welcome to the first public beta of **WatcherHUDJEI**!

This is a small addon for **WatcherHUD** that connects the overlay to **Just Enough Items (JEI)**. It lets you open recipes and uses for any block you're looking at, without ever opening JEI manually.

Since this is a **Beta**, everything works but you might find small bugs. Your feedback is welcome.

## ✨ What WatcherHUDJEI Does

When you look at a block with WatcherHUD installed, you usually see its name, coordinates and other info. This addon adds two keybinds that let you jump straight into JEI:

- Press **KP_3** → see how to craft the block
- Press **KP_4** → see what recipes use the block

That's it. No menu, no search bar, no scroll. Just look and press.

## 🆕 New in this version

### ⌨️ Two new keybinds

| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| **KP_3** | Open JEI recipes for the block you're looking at |
| **KP_4** | Open JEI uses for the block you're looking at |

You can rebind them in `Options → Controls → WatcherHUDJEI`. They appear in their **own category**, separate from the WatcherHUD keys.

### 💬 A hint line in the overlay

The addon adds a small line at the bottom of the WatcherHUD tooltip, telling you which keys do what. Something like:

- `JEI: press KP_3 for recipes`
- `KP_4 for uses`

### 🎛️ Two toggle options in the config

In the WatcherHUD config screen (**KP_0** → **Plugins**), you'll find **WatcherHUDJEI** listed with two switches:

- **Show recipe hint** — show or hide the hint line in the overlay
- **Show 'not installed' message** — show or hide a warning when JEI is missing

You can turn the whole addon on or off, or just hide the hint line if you prefer a cleaner overlay.

### 🔒 Auto-disable

When you turn the addon off in the config, its keybinds stop working automatically. If you press KP_3 or KP_4 while it's off, a small chat message tells you that the addon is disabled.

### 🧩 Full WatcherHUD plugin integration

WatcherHUDJEI is a proper WatcherHUD plugin. It registers itself, appears in the Plugins list, and behaves like any other addon. It respects the API version and is isolated — if it fails, it doesn't crash WatcherHUD.

## ⚙️ Installation

1. Install **Minecraft Forge 47.4.10** for Minecraft **1.20.1**
2. Put **WatcherHUD** in your `mods/` folder
3. Put **Just Enough Items (JEI)** in your `mods/` folder
4. Put **WatcherHUDJEI** in your `mods/` folder
5. Launch the game

That's it.

**Important:** WatcherHUD is **required**. This addon will not load without it.

## 🌐 Client vs Server

- **Client-side only** — this addon does not need to be installed on the server
- Works in singleplayer, on any server, and on LAN worlds
- The recipes and uses come from your local JEI, so no server setup is needed

## 🐛 Known issues in this Beta

These are things we already know about and plan to fix in a future version:

- **Only works with JEI** — REI and EMI are not supported yet
- **Only tested on Forge 47.4.10** — other Forge 1.20.1 versions will probably work but haven't been verified
- **English and French only** for the interface

- **REI support** (Roughly Enough Items)
- **EMI support** (EMI)
- **More hint styles** — let you choose how the tooltip hint looks
- **More languages** (Spanish, German, Russian, Chinese)

Nothing is set in stone — future versions depend on feedback from players like you.

- Your **Minecraft version** and **Forge version**
- Your **WatcherHUD version** and **WatcherHUDJEI version**

- The **full log file** (`logs/latest.log`)
- The **exact block** you were looking at
- A list of **other mods** installed
