Warband Combat

Unlisted
A Warband-inspired combat overhaul bridge for Expanded Armor and Heavy Armaments, adding cut, pierce, and blunt damage logic so armor construction, armor material, and weapon type matter in combat.

Warband Combat is an optional combat overhaul bridge for Expanded Armor and Heavy Armaments. It does not add new weapons or armor by itself. Instead, it changes how the equipment from those mods interacts in combat by introducing a Warband-inspired damage system built around cut, pierce, and blunt damage.

Armor is no longer treated as a generic defensive number. Construction and material both matter. Chainmail is especially useful against cutting attacks, plate armor offers strong general protection, and heavier materials create a clearer late-game armor hierarchy. Weak weapons struggle against serious armor, while proper anti-armor weapons remain dangerous.

Weapons also gain clearer battlefield roles. Swords and axes are primarily cutting weapons, spears and arrows are piercing weapons, and maces or great maces become the strongest anti-armor tools. This creates a combat system where weapon choice matters more, armor progression feels more meaningful, and low-tier enemies are less likely to randomly overwhelm well-equipped players.

The mod also accounts for hostile and neutral mob attacks. Ordinary zombies and similar unarmed mobs are treated as weak natural blunt attackers, while heavier creatures such as iron golems, ravagers, hoglins, zoglins, wardens, and dragon contact receive stronger blunt profiles. Bees, spiders, silverfish, and similar creatures are treated as natural piercing attackers. Creepers and explosions remain outside the Warband armor system so explosive damage is not trivialized by armor.

Warband Combat is intended for players who want a harsher, more equipment-conscious medieval combat experience while still preserving Minecraft’s basic item hierarchy and fantasy progression.
