VoxKbd
Too many mods, not enough keys.
VoxKbd gives you layered keyboards. Switch between multiple keybinding sets with one keypress.
How it works
Every physical key can do different things on different layers.
- Layer 1: W walks forward
- Layer 2: W triggers a mod ability
- Layer 3: W opens your backpack
Add as many layers as you want. No limit.
Under the hood: VoxKbd intercepts your key presses at the system level and translates them into "synthetic keys" (like VOXKBD_2_W) based on which layer is active. These synthetic keys don't exist in vanilla Minecraft — you bind them to mod functions, and they stay out of each other's way across layers.
Key Lock
Some keys you always want to work the same way, no matter which layer you're on — WASD for walking, Shift for sprinting, F for swapping. VoxKbd locks these by default[reference:5]. You can lock or unlock any key in the settings UI: locked keys always trigger their vanilla function, unlocked keys get handled by the virtual keyboard[reference:6]. Red background in the UI means locked.
Default controls
[— previous layer]— next layer`— open settings
All changeable in Minecraft's controls menu.
Getting started
Drop the JAR into your mods folder. That's it. No config files, no extra downloads.
Vanilla by default — if you never switch layers, nothing changes. Only the three keys above show up in the controls menu.
Works on
- Windows
- Android (FCL / ZL2)
Why use this?
Big modpacks = big key conflicts. VoxKbd doesn't replace your keyboard — it multiplies it.
