Voice Scrambler
Voice Scrambler is an addon for Simple Voice Chat that lets players hide their identity in voice chat. It adds one new item, the Voice Scrambler. While you wear it in your chestplate slot, your voice is distorted into a deep, robotic tone, so nobody nearby can recognise who is talking.
Features
- New wearable item: the Voice Scrambler goes in the chestplate slot. Right-click it to equip it, and it shows on your character with its own armor texture.
- Voice disguise: your microphone audio is pitched down and mixed with a robotic ring-modulation effect.
- Server-side processing: the effect is applied on the server, so everyone hears the scrambled voice and the wearer can't skip it with client tricks.
- Works with normal proximity chat: whispering is supported, and the range follows your Simple Voice Chat server settings.
- Easy to switch off: take the item off and your normal voice returns immediately.

I = Iron Ingot, N = Note Block, R = Redstone
It is also in the Combat tab of the creative inventory. It gives a small amount of armor protection and can be repaired with iron ingots.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.20.1
- Forge 47.x
- Simple Voice Chat 2.6.0 or newer
- Install on both the server and the clients
Notes
- While the scrambler is worn, only nearby proximity voice is sent. Voice in voice chat groups is not forwarded.
- Voice settings such as pitch and effect strength are set in the code for now, not in a config file.
Language support
English and Swedish.
