# Visual Deaths
**When you die, your body stays behind - with your skin, in a pose that tells how you died.**
> ## โ ๏ธ BETA RELEASE
> Visual Deaths is in **public beta**. The core (bodies, skins, poses, looting) has been tested in-game, but the latest features - zombie bodies rising at night, skeleton decay, loot drops, the locator-bar marker - have had little testing and some details may still change. Back up important worlds and please report anything odd (see **Reporting bugs** below).
## What is it?
Every time a player dies, a **body wearing that player's skin** is left at the spot. The body changes with the **cause of death** (fall, fire, drowning, explosion, Wither...) and with **who killed you** (zombie bites, spider webs, golem bruises, Enderman marks...). Your items and experience stay on the body until you - or someone else - loot it.
## โจ Features
**๐ง A body that looks like you**
- Uses the real skin of the player who died (default skin if that player was never seen by the server).
- 20+ death states with their own pose and damage textures: fall, lava and fire, drowning, freezing, explosion, lightning, starvation, suffocation, thorns, dripstone, crushing, Wither, Warden (sculk), magic, arrows, tridents, spears and more.
- Killer marks on top: bites, claws, webs, venom, slime, cuts, fangs, Enderman marks, Creaking bark...
- Iron Golem kills leave the body bruised and **without arms**.
- Pose variety: a body can lie face up or face down.
**๐ Skeletons**
- Death by fire or lava leaves a **charred skeleton**.
- Killed by the Wither or a wither skeleton? A **black skeleton**.
- A full body that is not looted turns into a clean **skeleton after 1 in-game day**.
**๐ง Zombie bodies**
- If a zombie killed you, the body **rises at the next night** with the vanilla zombie skin and walks. Anyone can kill it to get the items and XP. It falls again in daylight.
**๐ Two-click looting**
- **1st right-click:** drops the player's items and experience at your feet. The body stays, empty.
- **2nd right-click:** the empty body **vanishes** and leaves small **body loot** (rotten flesh, bones, bone meal and extras that depend on the death).
- Armor with **Curse of Binding** drops when the body vanishes. Vanishing-cursed items disappear, like in normal Minecraft.
- Bodies that were born empty (for example with `keepInventory`) vanish after 1 in-game day.
**๐ Easy to find**
- Your body shows on the **locator bar** with the default game marker (resource packs that restyle the bar also restyle it). The marker disappears when the body is empty.
- No icon is added to **Xaero's Minimap**, so your map stays clean.
- The chunk of a body that still has items stays loaded, so you can see the marker from afar.
## ๐งช Death states (examples)
| Cause | Result |
| --- | --- |
| Fall | Broken legs, wounds |
| Fire / lava | Charred skeleton in a fighter pose |
| Drowning | Blue-ish body, floating face down |
| Freezing | Frozen, standing, arms hugged |
| Explosion | Scorched, missing a limb |
| Lightning | Arms spread, burn lines |
| Wither | Black skeleton |
| Warden / sonic boom | Sculk-covered |
| Iron Golem | Bruised, no arms |
| Zombie | Bite marks, rises at the next night |
## โ๏ธ Configuration
The file `config/corpos.json` is created on first launch. Every option below can be changed (restart the game or server).
| Option | Default | What it does |
| --- | --- | --- |

| `corDoMarcador` | `""` | Marker colour as hex RGB. Empty = default game colour |
| `manterChunkCarregado` | `true` | Keep the chunk of a body with items loaded |
| `experiencia` | `"toda"` | `"toda"` returns all XP; `"vanilla"` returns the vanilla amount (7 per level, up to 100) |

## ๐ Requirements
- **Minecraft Java Edition 26.3**
- **[Fabric Loader](https://fabricmc.net/use/) 0.19.5 or newer**
- **[Fabric API](https://modrinth.com/mod/fabric-api)** for 26.3
- **Java 25**
- Install on **both the server and the client** (the body is drawn by the client mod).
## ๐ฅ Installation
1. Install Fabric Loader for Minecraft 26.3.
2. Put `visual-deaths-<version>.jar` and Fabric API in your `mods` folder.
3. Start the game. Single-player works as-is; for a server, install on the server and on every player.
## โ FAQ
**Does it work in an existing world?** Yes. Bodies appear from the next death on.
**Does it touch my skin?** No. The mod only reads the skin to draw the body.
**Does it work with keepInventory?** Yes. You keep your items, the body is born empty and vanishes after 1 day (or on a right-click).
**What about the Void?** Dying in the void leaves no body, because nobody could reach it.
**Can other players take my items?** Yes - anyone can right-click a body. Loot it fast or protect it.
**Is it compatible with Xaero's Minimap?** Yes. The mod adds no minimap icon.
**Resource packs?** The body textures live in `assets/corpos/textures/entity/corpo/` as 64x64 layers, so packs can restyle them.
## ๐ Known issues (beta)
- Newest features have had limited in-game testing: zombie bodies rising and walking, skeleton decay, body-loot drops, Iron Golem armless pose.
- The locator marker is shown to every player, not only to the owner, because it uses the game's own marker system.
- If the owner is offline, the body uses the default skin.
- The marker only appears in the same dimension as the body.
- Other mods that replace entity models/textures may change how bodies look.
## ๐ Reporting bugs
Please include: Minecraft + Fabric Loader + mod versions, the list of other mods, a **screenshot** of the body, how the player died, and your **`logs/latest.log`**.
