Volumetric Clouds & Realistic Waves replaces the flat vanilla sky and water with
photo-like clouds and more lifelike water. Client-side only, no server install needed.
FEATURES & WHAT THEY CHANGE
1. Volumetric clouds
Vanilla clouds are replaced with puffy, shaded cumulus clouds with soft edges.
Tops are bright white and bases are flat and bluish-grey. Clouds drift slowly with
the wind, and cloud density changes across the map: some areas are clear while
others are full of clouds. When it rains the sky turns overcast, clouds thicken and
merge into a low grey layer.
2. Realistic water splashes and ripples
Anything that enters water makes ripples: you, mobs, and dropped items. Bigger and
faster impacts create wider ring waves that last longer, along with splash particles
and bubbles. Falling from a height produces a water column. Walking or swimming near
the surface leaves small ripples behind you.
3. Animated water surface
Still water near you (lakes, oceans, ponds) gets a moving surface with wind waves,
sky reflections, and sun glints that change with your viewing angle. Ripples visibly
distort the surface as they travel outward.
WHY DOWNLOAD IT
Lakes and oceans feel alive, every jump into water is visible, and the sky has real
weather depth. The rest of the game looks the same.
LIMITS
- Underwater view is unchanged.
- Flowing water (rivers, waterfall streams) does not get the surface effect.
- Settings are in the source code, not an in-game menu.
