Unium

Faster world loading and chunk generation through multithreading

Unium speeds up world creation, world loading and exploration in modded Minecraft.
It spreads chunk generation across CPU cores, helping worlds open sooner and terrain keep up as you explore.
Tested on nine modpacks with 79–383 mods.

Benchmarks: (lower is better)benchmarks

Benchmarks use the same hardware and seed, with alternating runs on a dedicated Forge 1.20.1 server (16 CPU threads). Original modpack means without Unium or C2ME. Lower is better; ranges show repeated runs, and bars use the upper end.

World creation measures time until ready to join; Unium finishes outer spawn chunks afterward (16–33 s total). Exploration runs at 60 blocks/s for 60 s, measuring the average number of ungenerated chunks among 289 nearby chunks. Worst tick is the longest server tick during that run. Craft to Exile 2 uses a fixed spawn biome.

Tests used Unium 0.12.0 (0.12.1 rechecks matched) and C2ME 0.2.0 / Forge 9.9.3. Results vary by pack and workload.

Drop Unium into your mods folder - it works automatically. Individual optimizations can be configured in config/unium-common.toml.
