🌊 Rivers should flow with the landscape
More consistent currents for UltraTerraForged's rivers.
UltraTerraForged creates distinctive river routes and water elevations. Streams Reflowing adds directional currents—but understanding those custom waterways can require additional compatibility logic. This add-on connects both systems and makes currents follow native river routes and local water heights more accurately.

〰 Smarter river currents
- Height-aware currents: Accounts for rivers at elevations other than the usual sea level.
- Downstream routing: Compares water heights along a river and corrects locally rising current directions.
- Streams integration: Works with its current grids and the existing networking and physics systems.
- Natural water correction: Can inspect connected loaded water to improve ordinary water, baked streams, boat currents and visual drift.
- Respect for player control: Explicit Streams Flow Control overrides, including intentionally reversed or still areas, take precedence.
The actual-water correction uses bounded searches and doesn't force extra chunks to load. It never edits the underlying riverbed or replaces water blocks.
🧭 Installation & setup
- Install UltraTerraForged, Streams Reflowing and this compatibility mod on client and server.
- Use an UltraTerraForged Overworld with winding rivers or raised water enabled.
- Keep the following options enabled in
config/streamsreflowing.properties:
vanillaWaterFlow=true
flowVanillaRivers=true
- Restart and allow Streams Reflowing to prepare its flow grids in newly visited areas.
Use /utfstreams status for diagnostics, or stand in an affected stream and run /utfstreams inspect to compare its grid direction with the final flow vector.
⚙ Configuration
Settings are created in config/utfstreams-common.toml.
| Setting | Function |
|---|---|
enabled |
Enables or disables the compatibility layer |
nativeRiverSpeed |
Controls native current speed |
maxCurrentDepth |
Limits the vertical range of native river currents |
skipUphillSegments |
Enables uphill current protection |
correctActualWaterFlow |
Checks nearby loaded water to correct final currents |
actualWaterScanRadius |
Search radius for actual-water correction (default: 16 blocks) |
Restart after changing these settings. The corrected current band takes priority where it applies; outside supported river columns and heights, ordinary flow behavior remains available.

📦 Requirements
- Minecraft: 1.21.1
- Mod loader: NeoForge 21.1.219+ (21.1.x)
- Java: 21
- Required: UltraTerraForged 1.0.2+1.21.1
- Required: Streams Reflowing 2.15.2
🪨 What stays unchanged
This mod corrects current behavior, not world generation. It does not repair uphill water surfaces, disconnected channels, waterfalls, tributary carving or previously baked fluid blocks. Flat areas and outlets beyond the configured search bounds can retain their original direction, and saved worlds can differ from terrain-generation estimates.
Test in a new world or a backed-up save when combining multiple world-generation mods.
