Backpack

• Cheaper workbench upgrade: 1 Netherite Backpack in the center, surrounded by 8 Ultrabeam Ingots. No Ultrabeam Blocks or Core required.
• Preserves stored items, installed upgrades, custom name and both dye colors, including the original undyed colors.
• Uses the original Netherite backpack appearance and clasps. Main and trim colors remain independently dyeable; washing in a water cauldron works like the original.
• Keeps 216 inventory slots, 10 upgrade slots and the original Sophisticated Backpacks interface.

Axes and tree protection

• Newly grown sapling trees and recognized trees in newly generated chunks can trigger tree felling without sneaking.
• Old trees of unknown origin require sneaking. Logs placed after this update are persistently protected, even while sneaking. Piston-moved wood is also treated as protected building material.
• Felling removes the trunk and its own natural leaves, using normal loot tables for saplings, sticks and fruit. Placed leaves and foliage supported by neighboring trees are preserved.
• Respects normal mining protection events and tool durability. A canceled original break or broken axe cannot start the remaining chain.
• Tier 1 axe: 40% felling chance. Tier 2 remains 50%; Tier 3 remains 100%. The multitool retains its sneak mode.
• Conservative tree detection is limited to 256 logs and a connected root/canopy. Unsupported or oversized modded tree shapes and Nether fungi are not automatically felled.

Tier 1 pickaxe

• 40% chance for double ore drops.
• Silk Touch does not multiply reusable ore blocks. Other pickaxe tiers are unchanged.

Compatibility and validation

Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.250 or newer, Java 21. Replace the previous Ultrabeam JAR on both client and server.

The backpack integration remains optional: Sophisticated Backpacks (with Sophisticated Core) enables the backpack and recipe; Curios is optional for the back slot. Tested with Sophisticated Backpacks 3.26.3.2158, Sophisticated Core 1.5.1.2341 and Curios 9.5.1+1.21.1.

14 Minecraft integration GameTests and 1 startup test without the backpack mods passed. Build, archive integrity, 209 JSON/metadata files and 96 PNGs checked. All 106 existing texture/sound files remain unchanged. This alpha was tested on a separate test server; a full modpack playthrough has not been repeated.
