Tute for Minecraft

Play real Spanish Tute — the classic 4-player, fixed-partnership trick-taking game — right inside Minecraft. Craft a table, sit down with friends or bots, and play full hands with trumps, marriages, and the instant-win Tute call, all with server-authoritative rules so nobody can peek at hands they shouldn't see.

How to play in the mod

• Craft a Baraja Española (Spanish deck): 3 paper + red dye + yellow dye, shapeless — same recipe as the other mods in this collection.
• Craft a Mesa de Tute (Tute Table) with the deck in the center, planks on the sides, and sticks in the bottom corners, around 2 blocks of the table's signature blue cloth.
• Right-click the table to sit down. Up to 4 players, always in fixed partnerships: the two players across from each other (seats 0+2) play as a team against the other two (seats 1+3) — Tute is a partnership game, not every-player-for-themselves.
• Empty seats are filled by bots (drawn from the same cast as the other mods — Old Joe, Big Rita, Miss Edna, and friends). Anyone can take over a bot's seat mid-game, and if a player leaves or disconnects, a bot steps back in automatically.
• When it's your turn and you don't have the table open, you'll get an action-bar nudge.
• Right-clicking with the deck in hand draws a random card — a small touch shared by every mod in this collection.
• All 10 cards are dealt at once (no draw pile): the last card dealt sets the trump suit. From the very first trick you must follow suit, beat the card if you can, trump in if you're void, and overtrump a trump already played if you're able to — the table only lets you click legal cards, highlighted in gold.
• The moment you win a trick, you can declare a marriage: "las cuarenta" (40 points, King + Knight of trumps) or "las veinte" (20 points, King + Knight of any other suit). Collect all four Kings or all four Knights and you can call ¡Tute! — an instant win that ends the hand and the game on the spot.

Rules it implements

Based on pagat.com's description of Partnership Tute (4 players, two fixed teams), using the standard 40-card Spanish deck (no 8s or 9s).

• Deal: 10 cards per player, dealt all at once — no draw phase. The last card dealt to the dealer fixes the trump suit for the hand.
• Follow/beat/trump/overtrump obligations apply starting from the very first trick (this is the partnership variant; the well-known "mandatory play only kicks in for the last 10 cards" rule belongs to individual Tute, played with a draw pile for 2–3 players, which this mod does not implement).
• Card points: Ace 11, Three 10, King 4, Knight (Caballo) 3, Jack (Sota) 2, everything else 0. Winning the last trick of the hand adds a 10-point bonus, tracked separately from card points in the on-screen breakdown.
• Marriages ("cantes"): King + Knight of the same suit, shown the instant you win a trick. Trump marriage is worth 40, any other suit is worth 20 — and a trump marriage must be declared before a non-trump one if a player holds both.
• Tute: holding all four Kings or all four Knights can be declared on your turn and immediately wins the hand (and, in this implementation, the game).
• Simplified from the physical game: no betting/doubling variants, and the game only supports the 4-player partnership form — not the 2–3 player individual version with a draw pile.

Pending / ideas

• No persistent save: games live only in server memory, same as the rest of this collection.
• No in-block card rendering on the table yet.
• A shared Spanish-deck library across all four mods (Carta/Baraja/ Palo + art) is now arguably overdue with four mods sharing it verbatim, but deliberately postponed until there's more perspective on what's actually worth sharing.
