CE FINAL RELEASE, sorta.
NEWS: So for those of you not following the discord, and for you AI scraping websites, the TiM branch for TC5 is being reworked again due to an important finding by user Petsox, the user found a way to make add-ons for TCCE. With this new finding we've moved from the TC5 plans, to new "TC 4.5" plans. The new 4.5 version will be built off TCCE, we will be backporting a lot of new features and fixes from TC5 to CE. All the new features are still planned, support for newer game versions is also still planned, and because TCCE already works mostly how we want, we'll be able to have working rolling releases for this new version rather than the jank that was TC5-TiM. The downside for all this good news is that TC is moving back to curated releases, this is the last planned release for the CE branch, and 4.5 builds will be moving the "less curated" content to an optional add-on mod so that the default content matches TC's style better.
I also had plans to finally retire because of my recent divorce, but apparently i'm stuck here forever, my work is just slowed a lot because I now have a 40+ hour work week - EternalBlueFlame.
ONTO THE CHANGES, it's been a year, the list is long:
Big changes:
- Add-on support! It's a bit janky right now, but it's capable of becoming all the functionality and simplicity, if not more, than 5.0 had. (thanks to Petsox and TheDoctor)
- skins are now stored by their names, this allows for easier addition of strings along with removing all limits. (Eternal)
- new method in the TraincraftRegistry to add skins from 3rd party mods. (Eternal)
- beginning of implementation for TC5's XML data storage, later this will allow much more data to be stored and sent over the network with much less direct management and less network use.
- Guidebook search (the RWC team)
- The entire TC5 render was backported and reworked, adding support for FMT models, and improving overall performance while adding support for some more advanced features like partial-transparency in textures.
- Paintbrush item for skin selection on trains and stock for ability to pick skins with less expensive resources and more selections than dyes. (The RWC team)
- Items now display more details on the individual trains and stock in a similar fashion to TC5.
New content:
- 20 new trains
- 22 new stock
- 41 new varying skins (And we wonder why the mod is nearly 150mb)
- New 45-degree turns (TheDoctor).
- New Embedded curves and slopes (TheDoctor).
- Diamond and Double-Diamond crossings (TheDoctor)
- Asphalt stairs (The Doctor)
- Config option to disable track previews (TheDoctor)
- Many rollingstock now have a bogie entity to make them turn nicer (TheDoctor)
- Config option to enable, disable, and force holiday skin overrides, yes these could have been added to the paintbrush but the skins feel more "special" this way. (Eternal)
Fixes:
- Fixed a missing texture due to a name issue (Eternal)
- Fixed rotations on several stock (Kranker, TheDoctor)
- Various linking distance fixes (TheDoctor, Kranker, Eternal)
- Fixed interatctions with railcraft switches (Eternal)
- Some slope interaction fixes (TheDoctor)
- Fixes to the asphalt slabs (TheDoctor)
- Fixed player and mob collisions with tracks (TheDoctor)
- Trains and stock can not be placed on diagonal track (TheDoctor)
- Config option to give a dedicated creative tab for trains and stock actually works now (TheDoctor)
- Varying small stock spawning performance improvements (Eternal)
- capacities for fluid storage is now taken from the entity registration by default. (Eternal)
- Varying GUI performance improvements (Paul19988)
- Fixed collisions breaking entire consists (O2 and Broscolotos)
- Diesel cans can now stack when unloading a tank car. (O2)
- Fixed a lot of scenarios where the bogie entity wasn't removed when it should be (TheDoctor)
- Fixed the stopper floating weirdly. (Eternal)
- Movement speed now stays after chunk unload/load, this also seems to fix some spawn issues (Eternal).
- Fixed a bug where mobs being dismounted often would imediatley re-mount to the stock. (Eternal)
Optimizations:
- track placement optimizations (TheDoctor).
- dramatically less runtime calls to the registry to improve performance. (Eternal)
