Description
ToF Neo Setup is the in-game configurator of the Tales of Fantasia modpack (Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge). Press F10 to open it.
It is made for that modpack: its list of optional effects names the mods the pack ships. In another pack, options for mods that are not installed are simply not shown.
What it does
- Three profiles: Light, Normal, Turbo. One click sets view distance, simulation distance, graphics, particles and, with ToF Neo Optimizations, how far Create machine details are drawn. Restore my settings puts back what you had before the first change.
- Java memory check. Detects your RAM and reads the game's Java arguments. If the launcher gave too little memory, or a poor garbage collector setup, the screen says so and shows the recommended values.
- Save and restart. Restarts the game with the memory of the chosen profile and a tuned G1 garbage collector, without touching the launcher's settings. An option can do it automatically at launch.
- Visual options. Turn individual effects on or off (shaders, clouds, weather particles, falling leaves, animated chat…):
- either the whole mod, applied when the game restarts;
- or only its effect, through the mod's own config, while the mod stays loaded. Your original values are kept and restored.
- Color vividness slider, with ToF Neo Optimizations 0.12.0 or newer.
- Compatibility check. Warns when an installed version of Iris would crash with the installed Sodium.
What it touches
So that you know exactly what happens on your computer:
- Files:
config/: its own settings, and the effect settings of the mods you toggle;logs/: its log of the last restart;mods/: only the jars you turn off in Visual options, renamed to.jar.disabled, the same convention the CurseForge app uses;local/crash_assistant/: only if Crash Assistant is installed, two small signal files so that it does not report the restart as a crash.
- Restart: it starts a small Java process from its own jar. That process waits for the game to close, applies the pending mod changes, and starts the game again with the same command line. The command line goes to that process through its standard input. It is never written to disk or to the log.
- No network access.
Compatibility
- Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1+
- Client only. On a server it does nothing.
- Restart tested with the CurseForge app. When it is not possible, the screen asks you to restart by hand.
