Titan Trails

Find the trail. Face the giant. Decide its fate.

Titan Trails brings four colossal, migrating creatures to Minecraft, plus the towering Hollow Titan boss. Their journeys leave glowing footprints, broken trees, fertile ground, and distant roars. Follow the clues with a Trail Journal and Titan Trail Map, then choose whether to fight a titan or protect it.

Four titans, four encounters

• The Wayfarer sends out a ground-shaking Heartquake.
• The Glacierbound unleashes a freezing Frostwake.
• The Ashen Crown marks the ground before Cinderfall erupts.
• The Storm Herald traces a lightning lance with Stormcall.

Each titan has its own look and materials. Their encounters include stomps, arm swipes, kicks, leaps, breakable armor, and an exposed core.

The Hollow Titan: a four-phase boss battle

At twice the height of a roaming titan, the Hollow Titan rises from a Hollow Crossing. Its battle changes as you progress:

1. Buried King: break both ankle anchors and strike the shoulder seal.
2. Hollow Heart: climb to the chest, break four rib clamps, and expose the core.
3. Echoes of Four: counter each colored echo at its matching obelisk or interrupt it by striking the core.
4. The Choice: strike the core to defeat the Hollow Titan, or restore it with four charged tethers.

The arena, attacks, and phase transitions turn the fight into a set-piece encounter. Optional cinematic battle shaders activate only near the boss and are enabled by default; press O to toggle them.

Follow the trail

Natural encounters with the four roaming titans are rare. Look for huge glowing prints and changes to the land, ask villagers about sightings, and use the Trail Journal to investigate tracks. The Titan Trail Map shows your facing direction, recent footprints, a titan's last known position, and nearby Titan Crossings.

Fight or protect

Climb a roaming titan or grapple toward it with a rope launcher. Break its armor layers with specialized weapons or a mounted ballista, then strike the exposed core. Snare traps and well-timed movement help you survive its attacks.

You can take a peaceful path instead. Offer a roaming titan glow berries to protect it. Protected titans provide renewable crafting gifts once per Minecraft day, letting you progress without killing them. Discoveries also unlock Trail Journal lore and advancements.

Gear forged from giants

• Glacierbound Armor resists freezing; a full set lets you slide faster across ice.
• Ashen Crown Armor resists fire; dodging leaves an ember burst.
• Storm Herald Armor reduces fall damage and grants an air dash.
• Frosthook Spear chills titans and grapples you toward them.
• Furnace Maul delivers heavy strikes that crack armor plates quickly.
• Stormglass Javelin returns after being thrown; charged hits arc to nearby enemies.

Hollowforged upgrades

Defeating the Hollow Titan drops four Hollow Heart Shards, four Hollowforging Smithing Templates, and the Hollow Heart Blade. At a smithing table, combine a template, one piece of Glacierbound, Ashen Crown, or Storm Herald armor, and a shard. One victory provides enough materials to upgrade all four pieces of one set.

Hollowforged armor keeps its original set power and gains stronger protection. A complete set also grants Hollow Heart Reprieve: survive one fatal blow, knock nearby foes away, and heal. The effect recharges in two minutes. The Hollow Heart Blade can release a damaging pulse against nearby monsters.

Getting started

Install Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge and place the Titan Trails jar in your mods folder. Craft a Trail Journal and Titan Trail Map, then use the journal on a villager or footprint to begin tracking.

Natural roaming titans are intentionally rare. For Creative testing or filming, the Titan Trails tab includes spawn eggs and a Titan Crossing Sigil. To summon the Hollow Titan, sneak-use the sigil in the air until it selects the Hollow Titan, then use it on broad, open natural ground. The armor dodge and air dash use V, which can be changed in Controls.
