tiberium is very toxic so just taking it inside your inventory will kill you quite quickly.

So how would you transport the shards. Well you can put them inside a tiberium refinery, this will make it into a liquid. from here on out you can put it inside a tube and work with it. also walking in or near tiberium will be danger because of the gases. Tiberium will have a random change of making you sic,also it has a random chance with that random chance of giving you the posion debuff.
