## 0.1.0 — First beta

The first public beta of TheHollowing, a slow-burn horror mod for Minecraft Java 26.2 on Fabric and NeoForge.

### Dread
- Every player has a hidden Dread value. It rises with darkness, depth, nights spent alone and every day survived.
- Dread moves you through five phases: Quiet, Unease, Paranoia, Stalked and Hunted. Each phase unlocks worse things.
- Sleeping calms you down, unless you play on Intense.

### Paranoia events
- More than 30 events: footsteps behind you, mining inside the walls, knocking, scratching, tapping, creaking and footsteps above you.
- Whispers, close whispers in your ear, distant screams and a music box playing somewhere it shouldn't.
- Your base changes while you are away: doors left open, doors slamming, torches burning out, blank and named signs.
- Items get renamed, your hotbar gets shuffled, the world goes silent or blacks out, and you see fake death messages.
- Strangers type in chat, and the chat answers back if you ask it something like "who are you?".
- Jumpscares, which you can turn off.

### Monsters
- **Shadow Stalker**: a tall horned thing that watches from far away, vanishes when stared at and hunts you on the darkest nights.
- **Mimic**: wears your skin and your name, repeats what you type and only moves when nobody is looking.
- **Crawler**: a pale, starved thing that skitters through caves on all fours, climbs walls and can't stand light.
- **Visitor**: knocks on your door at night and begs to be let in, using a friend's name.
- **Faceless**: a tall figure with no face. It never walks, but every time you look away it is closer.
- **Lurker**: lives under your bed and won't let you sleep.
- **Weeper**: sobs in the dark. Don't stare at it and don't get close.
- **Dangler**: hangs from the ceilings of dark rooms, waiting above you.

### The Hollow
- A Hollow monster that kills you can drag you into the Hollow, a foggy dimension, instead of letting you die.
- Follow the bell to the exit doorway before what lives there finds you. If you die in the Hollow, you die for real.

### Items
- Hollow Bell, Calming Tea, Watcher's Eye, Survivor's Journal, Shadow Horn, Flare, Salt, Stand-In Effigy, Smelling Salts, Dreamcatcher, Bone Dagger and Hollow Lantern.
- The Dreadsight enchantment.
- Spawn eggs for every monster.

### Blocks
- The Ward Candle keeps a small safe zone, Bone Chimes rattle when something is near, Salt Lines keep things out, and torches can burn out.

### Structures
- Abandoned Camps, Survivor Caches and Hollow Remains, each with their own loot.

### Menus and settings
- A haunted main menu with a foggy night-forest panorama, eerie music, a flickering title and new splash texts.
- An in-game settings screen with Normal and Intense modes, Dread speed and toggles for every major feature.
- Config files `thehollowing.json` and `thehollowing_chat.json`, reloadable with `/thehollowing reload`.
- Advancements for surviving, crafting and hunting.
