⚠ ALPHA WARNING ⚠

This mod is currently in ALPHA development.

Many features are unfinished, missing, experimental, or subject to change. Bugs, crashes, broken animations, unfinished mechanics, and balancing changes should be expected.

The current Alpha does NOT represent the finished mod.

The goal of Wither Storm is to create a massive Minecraft: Story Mode-inspired Wither Storm experience with advanced destruction, growth, tractor beams, tentacles, Formidi-Bombs, the Wither Storm Bowels, Command Block weapons, multiplayer support, and much more.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🌩️ PLANNED FULL RELEASE FEATURES ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

THE WITHER STORM

The finished mod is planned to feature 10 major Wither Storm phases:

• Phase 1 • Phase 2 • Phase 3 • Phase 4 • Phase 4.5 • Phase 5 • Phase 5.5 • Phase 6 • Phase 7 • Phase 8

The Wither Storm will grow by actually consuming the world.

Every consumed block gives 1 Growth Point. Every consumed mob gives 2 Growth Points.

Every 20,000 Growth Points advances the Wither Storm to its next natural phase, up through Phase 5.5.

The Storm will feature:

• Three heads • Huge custom models • Custom animations • Flying movement • Advanced targeting and chasing • Regeneration • Phase-specific behavior • Flaming Wither skull attacks • Massive render distance • Custom sounds • Custom particles and atmosphere • Tentacles • Tractor beams • World destruction • Block absorption • Mob absorption • Item absorption • A Command Block inside the Storm

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🌀 TRACTOR BEAMS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The Wither Storm's tractor beams are planned to actually pull:

• Players • Mobs • Dropped items • Entire clusters of blocks

You won't simply lose control when caught in one.

Players will still be able to move, swim, fight against the pull, move sideways, and attempt to escape.

Objects captured from around 50 blocks away are planned to take exactly 3 minutes to reach the Storm.

Stay inside the beam for too long and you may also develop Wither Sickness.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🏚️ BLOCK CLUSTERS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Instead of every destroyed block instantly disappearing, the Wither Storm will rip sections of the world apart and pull clusters of blocks toward itself.

The goal is for these clusters to preserve the blocks they contain.

Even better, certain blocks inside the clusters are planned to REMAIN USABLE.

This includes things such as:

• Crafting Tables • Furnaces • Chests • Barrels • Smithing Tables • Enchanting Tables • Doors • Buttons • Levers

Yes.

The plan is to let you use a Crafting Table WHILE IT IS BEING SUCKED INTO THE WITHER STORM.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 💣 THE FORMIDI-BOMB ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The full Formidi-Bomb will be a major part of fighting the Wither Storm.

Recipe:

Gunpowder | Gunpowder | Gunpowder Gunpowder | Super TNT | Gunpowder Gunpowder | Gunpowder | Gunpowder

The planned sequence is much more than simply placing a bomb.

You will craft it on a Crafting Table being pulled toward the Wither Storm.

Once crafted:

• The ingredients merge • The Crafting Table transforms into the Formidi-Bomb • A 21-second countdown immediately begins • The player holds the bomb with both hands • The player launches/kicks it toward the Wither Storm

Another player will even be able to use a special fishing pole to hook the bomb holder and pull them back to safety!

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 💥 THE WITHER STORM SPLIT ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Using the full Formidi-Bomb against Phase 5.5 will cause the Wither Storm to fall and split into THREE sections.

The main section contains the Command Block.

All three sections remain dormant for exactly 5 minutes.

During the final 30 seconds, nearby players begin getting pulled toward the Command Block.

At 5 minutes, the Storm begins a 20-second cinematic wake-up sequence.

Tentacles move.

Heads activate.

Particles build.

Sounds intensify.

The tractor beams return.

And at 5:20…

The Wither Storm is fully awake again.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 💣 SMALL FORMIDI-BOMB ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The Small Formidi-Bomb is planned as a separate item.

It DOES NOT destroy or split the Wither Storm.

Instead, it opens the entrance to the Wither Storm's Bowels.

Its countdown will be exactly 30 seconds.

There will only be two intended ways to open the Bowels:

• Small Formidi-Bomb • 20 Endermen simultaneously ripping blocks from a Phase 7 Wither Storm

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 👁️ ENDERMEN VS. THE WITHER STORM ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Endermen will actually fight back against later phases of the Storm.

During Phase 6, Endermen can physically remove blocks from the Wither Storm and carry them away.

During Phase 7, having 20 Endermen actively removing blocks simultaneously can tear open the Bowels entrance and advance the Storm to Phase 8.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🫀 THE WITHER STORM BOWELS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Yes.

You will eventually be able to GO INSIDE THE WITHER STORM.

The Bowels are planned as their own interior environment containing:

• An entrance • Flesh tunnels • A cavern/arena • The Command Block • A final boss encounter

Normal weapons will NOT destroy the Command Block.

You will need special Command Block weapons or the Formidi Blade.

The fight is planned around three successful Command Block hits.

Hit #1: The Storm retaliates with a tentacle attack.

Hit #2: The Bowels turn UPSIDE DOWN and two Wither Storm heads appear.

Hit #3: The Command Block is destroyed.

The Wither Storm finally dies.

Players are then ejected from the Storm, and the blocks and mobs it consumed are released back into the world.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ☣️ WITHER SICKNESS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Spending too much time around the Wither Storm can eventually cause Wither Sickness.

Planned effects include:

• Long-lasting infection • Gradual maximum-health reduction • Damage • Purple visual effects • Potentially fatal progression • Sickened Mob variants

Golden Apple Stew will be able to cure it.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🔴 WITHER MADNESS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Players actually EATEN by the Wither Storm and transported into its Bowels can receive Wither Madness.

Its planned gameplay effect is red eyes.

Destroying the Command Block removes Wither Madness from all players.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🐄 SICKENED MOBS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Later Storm phases will introduce Sickened Mobs.

They will use corrupted custom textures while generally keeping the familiar models, animations, and sounds of their normal versions.

Wither Storm tentacles will NOT be able to grab Sickened Mobs.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⚔️ COMMAND BLOCK WEAPONS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The finished mod is planned to contain 46 Command Block weapons and tools!

This includes:

• 10 Swords • 9 Pickaxes • 9 Axes • 9 Shovels • 9 Hoes

Materials include:

• Wood • Stone • Copper • Iron • Gold • Diamond • Emerald • Netherite • Enderite

Plus the extremely powerful:

FORMIDI BLADE

Command Block equipment is planned to have infinite durability and resistance to fire, lava, explosions, and normal durability loss.

Designated Command Block weapons will also be capable of damaging the Wither Storm's Command Block.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 💚 EMERALD EQUIPMENT ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Emerald equipment will be included.

Emerald weapons and tools use familiar vanilla-style crafting recipes using Emeralds as their material.

They can then be upgraded into Command Block versions.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 💜 ENDERITE ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

A new rare material called Enderite is planned.

Enderite Ore will generate deep underground in the Overworld.

Smelt the ore into Enderite Ingots and use those ingots to create extremely powerful Enderite equipment.

Enderite can also be used for high-tier Command Block weapons and tools.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🧑‍🔧 WORKBENCH VILLAGER ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

A special Workbench system is planned.

Workbench recipe:

1 Crafting Table + 1 Keypad

A Workbench Villager can provide special trades including:

• 1 Emerald Block → Command Block • 12 Emeralds → Command Block Book • 2 Emeralds → Cure Base • 6 Emeralds → Small Formidi-Bomb

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🐎 TWO-PLAYER RIDING ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Multiplayer players will be able to ride certain animals together!

Planned support:

• Horses • Donkeys • Mules • Llamas

The front player controls the animal.

The second player rides behind them and can look around independently.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🏚️ THE MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Every naturally generated Witch Hut gets…

ONE CAKE.

By the window.

You're welcome.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⌨️ WITHER STORM COMMANDS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

A full public command system is planned, including commands for spawning specific phases, changing an existing Storm's phase, triggering its explosion sequence, reviving a dormant Storm, and killing individual or all Wither Storms.

These aren't planned as hidden developer commands. They're intended to be usable documented features.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🌐 MULTIPLAYER ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Multiplayer is a major goal, not an afterthought.

Major systems are planned to synchronize across multiplayer, including:

• Wither Storm AI • Growth • Phases • Tractor beams • Absorption • Formidi-Bomb sequences • Fishing-pole rescue • Dormancy • Wake-up sequence • Bowels • Command Block battle • Player effects • Two-player riding

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 📦 PLANNED FORGE VERSIONS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The initial planned versions are:

• Forge 26.2 • Forge 26.1.2 • Forge 1.21.1 • Forge 1.20.4 • Forge 1.12.2

The goal is for ALL FIVE versions to contain the same major features.

1.12.2 is NOT planned to be a "Lite" version.

Future versions currently planned include Forge 1.14.4 and Forge 26.3.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ❓ FAQ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Q: Is the mod finished?

A: NO. This is an Alpha. If something is missing, broken, weird, unfinished, unbalanced, or occasionally decides that Minecraft no longer deserves to be running… Alpha.

Q: Will my world be safe?

A: You're installing a mod whose main character eats the world.

Please make backups.

Q: Will the Wither Storm actually destroy and consume blocks?

A: YES. World destruction and block absorption are major parts of the finished mod.

Q: Can it eat mobs?

A: Yes. The finished system is planned to absorb mobs and eventually release them when the Wither Storm is finally destroyed.

Q: Can it eat players?

A: Yes.

That is actually important to the final battle.

Q: Can I go inside the Wither Storm?

A: Eventually, yes. The Bowels and Command Block boss fight are major planned features.

Q: Can I craft while being sucked into the Wither Storm?

A: That is genuinely one of the planned features.

Apparently crafting a sword on the ground wasn't stressful enough.

Q: Will the Formidi-Bomb be included?

A: YES. Both the full Formidi-Bomb and Small Formidi-Bomb are planned.

Q: Can I just use TNT to blow a hole into the Bowels?

A: No.

TNT: No. Super TNT: No. Full Formidi-Bomb: No. Pickaxe: No. Angrily punching the Storm: Also no.

Use the Small Formidi-Bomb or get 20 Endermen to help during Phase 7.

Q: Why doesn't the Formidi-Bomb permanently kill the Storm?

A: Because if you've played Minecraft: Story Mode, you probably already know how well that idea went the first time.

Q: Can Endermen attack the Storm?

A: Yes. Later phases are planned to allow Endermen to physically rip blocks from it.

Q: Is Wither Sickness planned?

A: Yes.

Q: Are Command Block weapons planned?

A: Yes. A LOT of them.

46 weapons/tools are currently planned.

Q: Does the Formidi Blade exist?

A: Yes. And this mod's Formidi Blade is its own weapon, separate from Cracker's Formidiblade.

Q: Does this require GeckoLib?

A: No. The goal is to use a custom model, animation, and rendering system.

Q: Fabric?

A: No.

Q: NeoForge?

A: No.

Q: Forge?

A: YES.

We found the Forge user.

Q: 1.20.1?

A: No. 1.20.1 is intentionally being skipped because Cracker's Wither Storm is already extremely well established there.

Q: Can you make a version below 1.12.2?

A: No.

Please allow Minecraft 1.7.10 to enjoy retirement.

Q: Will 1.12.2 have fewer features?

A: The goal is NO.

Where modern Minecraft APIs don't provide an equivalent, custom systems are planned to recreate the behavior.

Q: Will newer Forge versions be added?

A: Where practical, yes. Forge 1.14.4 and Forge 26.3 are currently planned for later.

Q: When will the full release be finished?

A: When it's ready.

This is a very large project involving custom rendering, animation, AI, destruction, networking, dimensions, multiplayer synchronization, optimization, and several major boss-fight systems.

I would rather release something good than rush the Wither Storm out of the oven half-cooked.

Q: Why is my FPS gone?

A: The giant three-headed flying world-eating monster would like to plead the Fifth.

Optimization will continue throughout development.

Q: I found a bug. What should I do?

A: Report it!

Please include:

• Minecraft version • Forge version • Mod version • What happened • What you were doing when it happened • Crash report/log if there is one • Steps to reproduce it if possible

Alpha bug reports are extremely useful.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🚧 DEVELOPMENT STATUS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

ALPHA

Expect frequent changes.

Features shown in this description are the PLANNED FULL-RELEASE feature set and should not be interpreted as features already available in the current Alpha.

Systems will be added and improved throughout development.

Thank you for testing the mod this early and helping turn this project into the Wither Storm experience it is intended to become.

❓ FAQ — WILL THIS MOD COME TO NEOFORGE OR FABRIC?

Q: Will there be a NeoForge version?

A: No. I currently have no plans to make a NeoForge version.

Q: Will there be a Fabric version?

A: No. I currently have no plans to make a Fabric version either.

Q: Why not?

A: This mod is already a HUGE project, and supporting multiple mod loaders would take a lot of extra development and testing time.

For the amount of time it would take me to port and maintain the entire mod for NeoForge and Fabric, I could instead be using that time to add new features, improve the Wither Storm, fix bugs, optimize the mod, and support more Forge versions.

I would rather spend my development time making the Forge version bigger and better than maintaining several versions of the same mod on different loaders.

So:

Forge: YES! ✅ NeoForge: NO. ❌ Fabric: NO. ❌

If you're waiting for a Fabric or NeoForge port, you might be waiting longer than the Wither Storm takes to eat your world.

This project is staying Forge-only.

❓ FAQ — WILL THE ALPHA VERSION STAY AVAILABLE?

Q: Will the original Alpha .jar be removed when the full version releases?

A: NO!

The Alpha .jar will stay on the project page FOREVER, even after the full release comes out.

I want the original Alpha to remain available as a piece of the mod's history so people can go back and see where the Wither Storm Mod started and compare it to what the mod eventually became.

So even years after release, if you want to download the ancient Alpha and see the Wither Storm back when it was still learning how to eat Minecraft properly… you can. 😂

The Alpha may be outdated, buggy, incomplete, and missing tons of features compared to newer versions, but it will NOT be deleted.

⚠️ Just remember:

The Alpha is preserved for historical purposes.

For normal gameplay, you should always use the newest stable version.

But the original Alpha?

It's staying on the page forever.
