Tensura: Gear Evolution 1.2.6

Minecraft 1.21.1 — NeoForge and Fabric

This update expands supported gear progression and fixes the EP tooltip problems reported after 1.2.5 on both loaders.

Added

  • Dragon Scale armor progression: All 12 Ice and Fire Dragon Scale colors can evolve into Dragonsteel armor of the same element. Fire stays fire, ice stays ice, and lightning stays lightning.
  • Elemental Dragonsteel tools: Added EP support for Ice and Lightning Dragonsteel axes, pickaxes, shovels, and hoes. These keep their own final tiers.
  • Named Sengoku weapon upgrades: Eight named weapon families can evolve into their matching upgraded forms. Their strongest forms keep their unique identity.
  • Daimyo armor upgrades: Sengoku's Daimyo armor can evolve into its matching higher-tier set, preserving the correct armor slots.
  • More Simply Swords coverage: Added EP support for Bloodwake, Dawnquiver, Dreadwhisper, Gloampiercer, Ionbound Stormscale, Riftmane, Soulstalker, Stormscale, The Devourer, and Wraithmaw. Dreadtide also has a terminal EP definition for packs that register it through Eldritch End.
  • Named axe harvesting: Sengoku's Splitting Axe of Kintaro and its upgraded form now count as supported harvesting axes.

Fixed

  • Fixed NeoForge mining EP being awarded when another mod cancelled the block break. EP now requires successful block removal.
  • Prevented empty-space mining attempts from granting EP.
  • Added safeguards against invalid EP values or multipliers causing incorrect progression.
  • Invalid evolution destinations such as "air" are now rejected instead of allowing Gear Evolution to remove the item.
  • Fixed mining EP stopping after a Netherite tool evolved into a native Tensura Magisteel tool.
  • Fixed native Tensura mining tools being unable to continue evolving through mining after reaching their EP requirement. Their own Tensura tier requirements are preserved.
  • Fixed a Sophisticated Backpacks compatibility error that could leave an old storage wrapper cached after evolution. Backpack contents and upgraded inventory sizes were checked with the newer releases.
  • Fixed the yellow "Needs EP to evolve" line from Tensura Evolution UI showing the wrong requirement in modpacks with custom EP values, including getting stuck at 0 while more EP was still needed.
  • Fixed evolution continuing past a final tier defined by a datapack or modpack override.
  • Fixed component-copy access errors affecting Ice and Fire and Simply Swords integrations, which could prevent their own item state from being copied during evolution.
  • Fixed the Next Evolution Tooltip setting replacing Tensura's remaining EP display with evolution progress. This was especially noticeable on grimoires.
  • Fixed Gear Evolution changing tooltips on native Tensura items that are not part of this addon's supported evolution paths.
  • Fixed remaining usable EP being mistaken for evolution progress. The two values now stay separate.
  • Prevented repeated tooltip processing from adding duplicate Gear Evolution next-tier and progress lines.
  • Fixed terminal items and removed or unavailable evolution targets falling back to outdated next-tier information stored on the item.
  • Fixed stale addon tooltip lines remaining in a reused tooltip list after its relevant display or gear-family setting was switched off.

Improved

  • Expanded the bundled catalog from 399 to 490 item rows, including safe final tiers.
  • Updated configuration help to explain which settings control Sengoku armor, named weapons, and elemental armor progression.
  • The progress line is now labelled Evolution progress so it is easier to distinguish from Tensura's normal EP display.
  • Native tooltip formatting, translation information, and details from other mods are preserved.
  • Added regression coverage for native grimoires, tooltip toggles, repeated rendering, and progression display.

Compatibility

  • Rechecked Minecraft 1.21.1 integrations against the September 17 release listings, including Tensura 2.0.1.3, Sophisticated Backpacks 3.26.3.2158 and Sophisticated Core 1.5.1.2341 on NeoForge, plus the separate Fabric ports.
  • Included Fabric's separate backpack ports and Sengoku Jidai 2.1.5 in the client checks.
  • Also checked the original Fabric tooltip report's Tensura 2.0.1.1 version.
  • Simply Swords 1.70.2 requires Architectury 13.0.11 or newer and its SimplyTooltips dependency. Use the correct files for your loader.

Notes

  • Great Swords retain Tensura's two-handed rules. One-handed mode can give zero damage; the tested evolved swords dealt damage normally in two-handed mode. If yours still deals zero with an empty offhand, please include the exact item, and mod versions.
  • Sengoku's native Fabric release was tested successfully. Its separate NeoForge Connector patch 2.1.5 currently has a client startup error that also occurs without Gear Evolution; that bridge client is not certified compatible by this release.
  • Simply Swords still controls its own awakening and special form changes. EP support does not force an awakening or replace a unique weapon with an unrelated item.
  • Native Tensura gear keeps its own progression. Utility items and creature armor have not been given artificial upgrade paths.
  • New Sengoku weapons use the Tensura and Sengoku weapons setting. Daimyo armor uses Armor chains. Ice and Fire and Simply Swords retain their own toggles.
  • You can turn Next Evolution Tooltip back on after updating. It no longer replaces Tensura's remaining EP line.
  • This update does not reset earned EP, change the default evolution thresholds, or require new gear or a new world. Custom pack thresholds still apply, and overrides that define no next tier are now respected.
  • Install the correct NeoForge or Fabric file and restart the game.

Thanks to everyone who reported the tooltip issues. If you still see incorrect or duplicate information, please include the exact item, your loader, and your mod versions.
