TEN4 Extension
The missing pieces for Technical Engineering 4.
Technical Engineering 4 is a great looking tech mod, but it's still in beta, and if you've played it for a while you've probably run into the rough edges: ducts you can't click properly, a Liquid Unit that duplicates fluids, augments that don't exist yet, an IO panel that doesn't really work. I wanted to use TEN4 in a modpack, so I made this addon to fix those problems and fill in some of the gaps.
Everything here is built on TEN4's own systems, so the new machines use the same GUIs, the same energy, the same IO configuration and the same augment panel as the rest of the mod. It's meant to feel like it was always part of TEN4.
This is an addon. You need Technical Engineering 4 installed alongside it
Bug Fixes
- Ducts finally have proper hitboxes. Before, every duct was just the small center cube no matter how it was connected, so the wrench would hit the wrong side or nothing at all. Now the outline and collision follow the duct's actual shape. Wrench an arm to disconnect that side, and click the bare core to reconnect it.
- Liquid Unit fluid dupe is gone. Putting a bucket in the Liquid Unit used to leave it as a full bucket and keep filling the tank forever. Buckets now empty and fill the way you'd expect.
- Stacked Liquid and Energy Units can't be abused. They stack to 64 but only stored contents for one, which made another easy dupe. Stacked units no longer accept or give anything.
- The IO panel works and actually looks like your block. Each side shows the real texture of that face of the machine, with a colored frame for the mode (blue for input, orange for output, green for both). Left-click goes forward, right-click goes back, middle-click turns the side off, and it only shows the IO types that machine really has.
- Private mode means private. Setting a device to Private didn't do anything before. Now other players can't open, rotate or wrench it.
- The Void Unit voids. It never actually ticked, so it just filled up like a tank.
Tanks no longer lose or create fluid when you remove Tank augments or move fluids between machines with several tanks. - Server side checks on device settings. Machine settings can only be changed by a player who actually has that machine's GUI open.
- Augments now show in the item tooltip when you dismantle a machine.
- Fixed recipes: tin dust can be smelted into tin ingots, and the leather pressing recipe no longer points to an item that doesn't exist.
- Wrench rotation: right-click a machine with a wrench to rotate it. Sneak + right-click still picks it up.
Augments
TEN4 has an augment panel on every machine, but barely anything to put in it. This adds six augments:
Overclocking Augment - Power ×1.5. Machines work faster and generators produce more FE/t.
Coil Augment - Energy capacity and energy throughput ×2.
Piston Augment - Item throughput ×2 (auto-eject and auto-extract).
Vacuum Augment - Fluid throughput ×2.
Tank Augment - Tank capacity ×2.
Silencing Augment - Mutes the machine.
Each augment slot holds one augment, so a machine can have at most 4. Effects stack by multiplying, so two Overclocking Augments give ×2.25. Picking up a machine with the wrench keeps its augments. All the numbers can be changed in the config if you want to balance them for your pack.
New Machines
All of them use TEN4's GUI style, IO configuration, redstone control and augment slots.
Solar Generator
Makes up to 20 FE/t during the day as long as it can see the sky. Output follows the sun and drops when it rains. Energy auto-eject is on by default, so you can place it next to a duct and forget about it.
Biomass Generator
Inspired by the biomass engine from Technical Engineering 3. Burns plant matter for 40 FE/t: logs, planks, saplings, leaves, flowers, crops, seeds, kelp, bamboo and more. It reads common item tags, so plants from other mods work too. JEI shows how long every fuel burns.
Farm Manager
Also inspired by TEN3. Farms a 9×9 area around itself. It harvests fully grown crops, replants them with their own seeds, and plants any seeds you put in its slots onto empty farmland. Harvests are pushed out into adjacent inventories or ducts. It works with nether wart and any modded crop that uses the vanilla crop block. Overclocking makes it check the field more often.
Crucible
Melts items into fluids: netherrack, magma blocks and obsidian into lava, ice and snow into water, redstone into liquid redstone, monazite into Toran Concentrate, and bottles o' enchanting into liquid experience.
Solidifier
The other way around. Makes obsidian, ice, redstone and bottles o' enchanting from their fluids.
Titanium Ducts
A faster tier of energy, item and fluid ducts for when the regular ones can't keep up: 1000 FE/t, 1000 mB/t, and 8 items per trip at 2.5× speed.
Fuel Generator additions
TEN4's Fuel Generator now also burns lava, Toran Concentrate and Nutrient Solution.
JEI Energy Info
Ever wondered how much power a machine actually uses? Hover over the energy bar in any TEN4 recipe in JEI and it tells you:
- how many FE/t a machine uses, or how many FE/t a generator produces
- the total FE for that recipe and how long it takes
- FE per mB for liquid fuels
This works on TEN4's own recipe categories as well as the ones added here. JEI is optional, everything else works without it.
Compatibility With Other Mods
Extra recipes only load when the mod they need is installed, so nothing shows up broken in JEI if you don't have them.
- Pulverizer: ores, raw ores, ingots and plates of silver, lead, nickel, aluminum, osmium, uranium, zinc, platinum and iridium, plus alloys like bronze, brass, steel, electrum, invar and constantan, into dusts from AllTheOres, Thermal, Mekanism and Immersive Engineering.
- Press: ingots into plates from AllTheOres, Thermal, Immersive Engineering and sheets from Create.
- Fuel Generator: diesel, gasoline, LPG, biodiesel, ethanol, plant oil and creosote from Immersive Petroleum, PneumaticCraft, Immersive Engineering and Create Crafts & Additions.
- Any wrench tagged `c:tools/wrench` works on TEN4 machines and ducts.
Requirements
- Technical Engineering 4 (26.1.9 or newer)
- JEI (optional, but recommended)
FAQ
Can I use this in my modpack?
Yes, go for it. No need to ask.
Is this made by the TEN4 developer?
No, it's an unofficial addon. Please don't report bugs from this addon to TEN4, report them here instead.
Does it include TEN4?
No. Download Technical Engineering 4 separately and put both jars in your mods folder.
Where's the config?
`config/ten4ext-common.toml`. You can change augment strength, generator output, the Farm Manager's range and energy use, Titanium duct speeds and more.
