St'ructure Tools
aims to make building a little easier. At this time there are four
tools, which will help you build your St'ructures. Alternatively, watch the following mod spotlight for instructions!
Requires: Fabric API, and Cloth Config API.
This mod is an unofficial port of Building Gadgets, but most of the information from the below mod spotlight should still apply
Note: This mod does NOT include the construction paste stuff as its a pain to port.

I don't think the mod save config, and every restart it revert to default config. I don't see the config file either

is it possible to link the tools to inventories / ME networks?

you can link to inventories, not sure about me networks though haven't tested it.
Question. If I install this on my multiplayer server. Does the clients also need it, or will this work even if the clients do not have the mod installed?
My server follows a strict "rule" where I'm only going to add mods that doesn't require the players to mod their game, since I have friends who are not very mod-savvy, and I want them to be able to play as well.
So I only add mods that is serverside only, OR mods that while required to work, doesn't crash the game for those without it. :)
Also, the gadget-tools, do they have to be crafted, like the pickaxe and other tools, or can you just "get them"?
Would be fun if it's craftable items. :)
(I know you're not the dev, "just" the porter, but thought I'd ask incase you know) :)

This mod adds a bunch of items and blocks so both client and server require this mod thus does NOT meet your requirements, and yes you do need to craft them.

I realized I could just try it out since I'm the server admin. So I installed it on the server, and not on my client, and I could join just fine, just not use it.
So I guess the answer is that it's not required for the players to be able to play, but they need it installed IF they want to use the mod.
So that works for me. As long as they can still play, it's still good, even if they miss out on that mods features. :)

This can very easily lead to item registry conflicts, and isn't a recommended practice for any mods that add blocks or items.
What type of nerfs or things I should disable or be aware of? If I recalled before people could use this to mind with in some ways.

You can always up the power consumption of the gadgets especially the destruction gadget

any idea of how to use the extra generators? I am right clicking with structure-tools and there is energy in generators but i cant charge them.

You would need some sort of battery, energy cell that has a gui to charge the gadget. TR offers one as well as indrev
