Sprint Equalizer

Run at sprint-jump speed without constantly bunny hopping.

In vanilla Minecraft, repeatedly sprint-jumping is noticeably faster than simply sprinting along the ground. This encourages players to jump throughout every journey, even when the terrain does not call for it.

Sprint Equalizer makes regular ground sprinting match the average speed of vanilla sprint-jumping. At the same time, it adjusts the extra horizontal impulse from sprint-jumps so that jumping does not become faster again.

You can still jump normally — jump height and ordinary jumping behavior remain unaffected.

With the default settings, both movement styles average approximately 7.13 blocks per second while continuously moving forward across normal terrain.

Player commands

Players can control the mechanic for themselves without operator permissions:

The command only affects the player who uses it.

Server owners can disable personal switching through the config. Saved player preferences are preserved and become active again if personal switching is later re-enabled.

Configuration

Sprint Equalizer has four server-controlled settings:

The default coefficients are mathematically calibrated so that sustained ground sprinting and sustained sprint-jumping converge to the same average speed on ordinary terrain.

Custom values can be used to create a slower, faster, or differently balanced movement model.

Compatibility

Sprint Equalizer uses Minecraft's standard movement-speed attribute and only adjusts the additional horizontal sprint-jump impulse. It does not change vertical jump height.

Speed and Slowness effects, unusual block friction, ice, low ceilings, collisions, and movement changes from other mods can affect the exact measured result. Mods that independently rebalance ground sprint speed or sprint-jump momentum may conflict.

The mod must be installed on both the client and server. In singleplayer, installing it normally covers both sides.

The Fabric version requires Fabric API. Always download the file matching both your Minecraft version and mod loader.

Why use Sprint Equalizer?

Sprint-jumping remains a valid movement choice for clearing obstacles and navigating uneven terrain—but it is no longer mandatory for efficient travel.

Run when you want to run. Jump when you actually want to jump.

Modpacks

You may include Sprint Equalizer in any public or private modpack, including monetized modpacks where permitted by the relevant platform rules. No separate permission is required.

When you use the original, unmodified JAR, no additional attribution steps are needed. The license and copyright notice are already bundled inside the JAR, so you do not need to copy them to your modpack page or include separate files.
