For those who'd prefer to farm endgame minerals with less combat grinding, the Croparium mod is ideal
Some of the main features:
A huge variety of detailed, realistic, creepy new arthropod mobs based on real life counterparts
Nightmarish horror-style demon bosses that can stalk you across multiple dimensions
An entire custom dimension, called "The Crawling", with unique mobs and worldgen of its own
A biome-sized wither storm-like eldritch horror final boss
Multiple large custom dungeon structures
Countless new items, special weapons, tameable mobs, and tools of all kinds
A truly challenging PvE experience, extending far past the vanilla endgame (yet balanced, strong mobs are uncommon)
Countless configuration options, including an "insanity mode" feature for more fast-paced gameplay styles (enables crawling dimension mobs in the overworld)
A wiki providing intricate details on most features of the mod
Regular updates with more and more crazy content being added
Note that the real life versions of all these arthropods are largely harmless, passive, or even friendly towards humans, and this mod does not intend to accurately represent their behaviours.

Truly overwhelming and ominous forces of nature - Survival will not be easy; these powerful entities are death incarnate, spawning naturally and coming with advanced mechanics to terrorise and stalk you down from long distances. Ranged weapons (when possible) and high mobility recommended, nowhere is safe from these creatures. Hallucination entities foreshadow their rare appearances, marked with lightning strikes. They are also summonable, dropping powerful items on death, as they are demon lords originating from the Crawling dimension, manifesting as hybrid arthropod abominations.
SPIDER MOTH
Overworld-exclusive spawns during thunderstorms. Avoids spawning near players that have killed it at full power. Like the warden, this entity is something to run from, not try to kill until you become very strong.
[BOSS]
Multiple phobias combine to create a nightmarish hybrid creature with an original design incorporating some elements of Mothman folklore.
Nether-exclusive spawns during rain+thunderstorm cycles. Avoids spawning near players that have killed it, or haven't warded off the Spider Moth twice.
[BOSS]
An ominous flying demonic entity that can stalk you in the nether, adding a true horror element there. Original design with hybrid elements of scorpion and mosquito morphology.
End-exclusive spawns during rain+thunderstorm cycles. Avoids spawning near players that have killed it, or haven't warded off the Spider Moth twice.
[BOSS]
A horrifying demonic entity with telekinetic powers lurks in the end, following you with teleportations. Original design combines elements of tailless whip scorpion and dragonfly (meganeura) morphology.
A ruthless monstrosity with powers over time itself, this creature will make survival perilous for players at any game stage. Original design hybridising elements of trilobite (dicranurus) and spider (flic flac) morphology.
An extremely powerful demon lord with multiple cosmic powers, serving as the most terrifying threat outside of the Tormentor. Original design hybridising elements of giant centipede and diabolical ironclad beetle and scarab morphology.
Spawns anywhere once activated by either killing the original three bosses and encountering an initial version in the overworld, or summoning it from an altar on the bottom layer of the Crawling dimension. Can be sealed or killed with extreme difficulty.
[SUPERBOSS]
A threat to eclipse the wither storm. The ultimate monstrosity, something not seen in any other horror mod: A true biome-sized eldritch horror capable of tormenting all nearby players, and comes in multiple different tiers of power. This eldritch beast is so powerful that nothing else can compete, and it is more comparable to an infection mod than a single entity. However, it can be sealed (its primary target should throw a "bane of the darkness" item into a crawling portal), or defeated by some of the most powerful ranged weapons in ArPhEx after a long multi-day fight. No matter how strong you are, this entity will likely pose a major threat. Original design incorporates elements of various arthropods, especially house centipede, sea spider, scorpion, and mosquito aspects.
Planned additions: More Tormentor "tiers" up to tier 5. Potentially another boss for the upcoming "webrooms" dimension. Major sound improvements planned (these have not been a focus so far), and general further optimisations to existing mechanics.
This mod features a wide range of high-detail, realistic arthropod mobs, focusing on those likely to induce phobias. Nearly all of them are uncommon, but many of them are strong, so beware if you encounter them!
Next three planned mob additions: Scorpion miniboss, trilobites, parachute spiders. Continuously improving existing mobs. More dungeons planned for the crawling and the overworld. Open to suggestions.
Most added mobs can climb walls. Some of them can spawn in large groups. Some are tameable, or spawn in special structures. Minibosses ordered from strongest to weakest.
This mod's items are too complex to fully describe here without overloading the page with information. There are tons of new kinds of equipment with crazy special abilities (e.g. an ant commander stick that lets you command your own ant colony)
The wiki provides extensive information about all mobs and items, along with guides!
ArPhEx takes some inspiration from some of the craziest mods ever made, like Lycanite's mobs, Orespawn, and Chocolate Quest. Plus, takes inspiration from Terraria.
ArPhEx comes with a special dimension called "The Crawling", featuring five biomes and four layers bypassed through conquering dungeons. There are multiple dungeon-style structures that can spawn in the both the crawling and overworld dimensions.
THE CRAWLING DIMENSION
A beautiful yet nightmarish realm of constant survival of the fittest. The Crawling is nature at its most brutal and apathetic - surviving in lower depths of this dimension will be perilous, even with the strongest gear. Five biomes, and four vertical layers that can only be bypassed through conquering special dungeons that lead from one layer to the next! Plus dangerous weather cycles - blood rain and fog can appear.
To access this dimension, there are a few steps. First, you can craft a "Crawling Compass" item that leads you to a huge overworld structure with a sphere in the centre. Inside this sphere are four pillars that you can light with scorch charges. Once lit, simply right click on the central "Crawling Barrier" block to activate a portal that leads you to the crawling!
To leave the dimension, you can find occasional portal structures on the top layer. A third of them have stone blocks and take you to the overworld. A third have netherrack blocks and take you to the nether, and a third have end stone blocks, taking you to the end dimension. They take you to a random location each time, so each venture into The Crawling is a dangerous endeavour.
But more dangerous still is if you try to descend to the lower layers of the Crawling!
When you're in the dimension, the Crawling Compass can lead you to dungeons on your current layer, either the nearest one to go down a level or up a level (sneak-right click to scan for dungeons to go back upwards).
Five biomes in the Crawling:
Crawling Canopy
Cryptic Complex
Decadent Desert
Webbed Wasteland
Tormented Tunnels
