# Spellweaver
Spellweaver is a bright high-fantasy magic mod built around one idea: magic
should feel like something you shape, not just a list of attacks you unlock....that and i wanted to make spells that went boom
You can learn complete spells, build your own at the Arcane Loom, master the
ones you enjoy, and develop your character through a large custom skill tree.
The mod also includes magical storage and automation, exploration tools,
structures, trials, equipment sets, relics, active abilities, and some magic
that is deliberately a little ridiculous.
## Build your own spells
The Arcane Loom lets you create spells by combining four parts:
- **Element** decides the spell's magical nature.
- **Delivery** decides how it reaches the world, such as a projectile, beam,
nova, ground sigil, Runic Wall, Soul Tether, Arcane Rain, or Arcane Mantle.
- **Behavior** changes what the spell does after it is cast.
- **Augment** modifies its power, cost, area, speed, duration, or other traits.
Custom spells can be saved into five patterns, equipped alongside normal
spells, copied onto tradable Pattern Scrolls, and cast directly from those
scrolls. A successfully cast scroll is consumed.
Tap right-click for a normal cast. Hold right-click to charge a spell, watch
the item's durability bar fill as the charge meter, and release for a much
stronger cast at a much higher mana cost. High-charge elemental magic can
become powerful enough to damage the environment.
## Seven kinds of magic
Spellweaver currently includes 22 authored spells across seven elements:
- **Fire** focuses on direct damage, burning, and explosions.
- **Ice** damages, slows, freezes, and controls areas.
- **Lightning** strikes quickly, chains between targets, and can charge
machines that accept NeoForge FE.
- **Illusion** handles invisibility, misdirection, weakening, teleportation,
and Wacky Magic.
- **Alteration** changes armor, movement, gravity, and the battlefield.
- **Conjuration** creates familiars, astral weapons, and guardians.
- **Restoration** heals, cleanses, grants absorption, and protects allies.
Fire, Ice, and Lightning form the Destruction school. Only damaging magic can
start elemental reactions. Restoration and the other support schools do not
quietly gain damage just because another element is nearby.
Every authored spell has three mastery ranks and two permanent evolution
paths. Casting a spell earns mastery for that spell, improving its potency,
mana cost, cooldown, and eventually the way it behaves.
Wacky Magic is exactly what it sounds like. It has fifteen possible outcomes,
including helpful effects, unpleasant effects, and occasionally a cat that
immediately sprints away.
## The Weaver's Constellation
Press `Y` to open Spellweaver's custom skill tree. The current beta contains
the first 81 skills of the planned 100-node constellation.
The six branches cover mana, spell power, spell memory, magical study,
automation, and travel. Skills can increase maximum mana, regeneration,
equipped spell slots, damage and healing, cooldown speed, crafting throughput,
storage transfers, and much more.
Skill points come from Arcane progression or by spending vanilla experience.
The first XP purchase is inexpensive, but each later point costs more. The
tree can be scrolled normally and zoomed with `Shift` plus the mouse wheel, so
it remains usable at large GUI scales.
Active skills include magical Ender Pearl travel, line-of-sight teleporting,
personal wards, cross-dimensional anchor recall, invisibility, cleansing,
survival flight with ongoing mana upkeep, Gravity Well, non-damaging Temporal
Stasis, and the terrain-breaking Astral Cataclysm.
Maximum mana can eventually reach `9,999,999`, but the strongest abilities,
charged casts, portable workstations, flight, and storage automation are
designed to consume meaningful amounts of it.
## The Wayfarer's Astral Vault
Press `I` to open a personal otherworld inventory that follows your character
through death and dimension travel.
The Vault counts total stored items rather than limiting both items and item
types. Its progression starts at 65,536 items and can reach 268,435,456. It
supports searching, sorting, direct deposit and withdrawal, saved crafting
recipes, a 3-by-3 crafting grid, and crafting that uses Vault items before the
player inventory.
The larger goal is a magical alternative to storage-network mods, so the Vault
also includes:
- Runic Fabricators with separate configuration pages for attached machines
- Machine patterns and requested output amounts
- Vanilla and modded machine support through standard sided item capabilities
- Arcane Importers and Exporters linked directly to the owner's Vault
- Petition Plinth item requesters
- A crafting queue and automatic crafting-table recipes
- Furnace-style patterns and processing support
Compatibility is capability-based instead of being hard-coded to a small list
of mods. Machines with unusual handlers may still need individual beta testing.
## Portable Arcane Workshop
Unlock the Arcane Workshop and press `C` to use portable, mana-powered versions
of a Furnace, Blast Furnace, Grindstone, and Anvil. The stations use real
Minecraft and NeoForge recipe and item rules, work with registered modded
recipes, and can pull accepted inputs from the Arcane Vault.
## Exploration and equipment
Search Magic is a semi detailed magical minimap ( ill get it more detailed in the near future() that shows terrain, biome colors,
elevation, chunk lines, landmarks, coordinates, and nearby creatures. Creature
markers use the creature's real head texture when possible, including modded
entities.
The world also contains magical shrines, seven Arcane Trials, seven Leyline
Incursions, school-themed sentinels, landmark tools, and complete equipment
progression. There are seven regalia sets and three relics for every magical
school. Relic slots work natively and can also appear through Curios when it is
installed.

## Open beta notice
`0.1.0-beta is a open beta, not a finished release. Single-player has
received the most testing. Multiplayer, enormous modpacks, long-running worlds,
and machines with unusual automation handlers still need broader testing.
I do not have a large testing team behind the mod, so this beta is how it gets
tested in the worlds and modpacks I cannot reproduce on my own. If you find a
problem, please include the exact Spellweaver, Minecraft, and NeoForge versions,
the steps that caused it, your mod list, and `logs/latest.log`. If Minecraft
crashed, include the newest file from `crash-reports` too.
The JAR includes a one-time Open Beta notice after joining a world. The same
testing instructions can always be reopened with the **Beta Guide** button in
the `K` Spellbook.
Please back up important worlds before installing or updating any beta. If you
are trying Spellweaver for the first time, a new Creative world is the safest
place to learn the systems before bringing it into a long-term pack.
