What's new

Spells and Spellcrafting 2.12.63 — release notes

Rolls up 2.12.62 and 2.12.63 (2.12.62 was never published). Both are Reagent Pouch work around Lootr's per-player loot containers, which are new to the pack.

What's new

  • The Reagent Pouch can now pull from a Lootr container you have already opened. Sneak + right-click drains its reagents straight into the pouch, the same as any chest.
  • The first sneak + right-click on a Lootr container you have not opened says "Opening it first — sneak-click again to pull reagents" and opens it. Once your loot has rolled, the next sneak-click pulls. The pouch will never spend a container's one-time loot roll just to look inside it.
  • Pouch messages now say which situation you are actually in: "Can't pull from here" for a container the pouch can never pull from, "Nothing to pull from here" for one that simply had no reagents left.

Fixed

  • Sneak + right-clicking a Lootr container with the pouch is no longer a dead click. It previously did nothing at all — no transfer, no container, no message.
  • Sneak + right-clicking an empty vanilla chest with the pouch in hand opens the chest instead of doing nothing.
  • Plain right-clicking a Crafter with the pouch no longer pushes reagents into its recipe grid — it just opens the Crafter.
  • A successful pouch pull no longer pops the pouch's own screen open on top of the result.
  • The pouch no longer drains a Lootr container that is locked, that has decayed, or that is due to refresh — in each case it says so and leaves the loot to Lootr's own rules.

Under the hood

  • The Lootr integration is a soft dependency: no Lootr, no behavior change, and a future Lootr update that moves its API degrades to the previous "open it instead" behavior with one explanatory line in the server log rather than breaking.
  • Pouch pulls read Lootr's saved data through its non-creating accessor only, so a container you have never opened is left completely alone.
  • 318 unit tests (up from 311).

Requires / compatible with

  • Minecraft 1.21.1
  • NeoForge 21.1.224+
  • Zombie Village 4.57.310+ (only if installed — for the Soul Well pouch pull)
  • Lootr (only if installed — optional; nothing else changes without it)

Migration notes

  • Update the client and server jars together. 2.12.62 changed how the client predicts a pouch sneak-click; a mismatched pair can make the click feel dead. (2.12.63 on its own is server-side, but the pair still has to cross the 2.12.62 boundary together.)
  • Opening a Lootr container with a pouch sneak-click is a real open: it rolls your loot, fires the advancement and the looted statistic, and starts that container's decay timer. That is intended — but an accidental sneak-click on a container you were saving does start its clock.
