Spartan Shields — Fabric port

Spartan Shields adds a broad range of shields to Minecraft, from plain wood and stone up through iron, diamond and netherite, plus shields made from common modded metals. Every material comes in two forms: a basic shield and a larger tower shield.

This is an unofficial Fabric port of the original Forge mod by ObliviousSpartan. It is not made or endorsed by the original author.

Features

• 60+ shields across vanilla and modded materials, each as a basic and a tower variant.
• Tower shields can be decorated with banners, exactly like a vanilla shield — apply a banner in a crafting bench and the pattern shows on the shield.
• Shield bash — while blocking, press attack to slam the shield forward, damaging and knocking back what you hit. Tower shields hit multiple targets at once. The key is rebindable in Controls.
• Three shield enchantments:
• Spikes — hurts attackers whose blows you block.
• Firebrand — a shield bash sets the target on fire.
• Payback — blocked damage is absorbed into the shield and released by your next bash.
• Energy-powered shields for Mekanism and Ender IO materials, using Team Reborn Energy.
• Configurable — durability per material and shield-bash cooldowns live in config/spartanshields.json.

Mod compatibility

Shields made from another mod's material appear whether or not that mod is installed; they simply cannot be crafted without it. Recipes use the standard c: conventional item tags, so any mod providing those metals works automatically.

Tested together with Sodium, Iris (including shader packs), JEI, REI, Hold My Items and Punchy — no conflicts.

Licence and credits

Original mod and all assets by ObliviousSpartan, released under the Apache License 2.0. This port keeps that licence.

Per the terms of Apache-2.0, note that the original files have been modified: the mod has been ported from Forge to Fabric and the code restructured accordingly.
