Sort OG

Press R and your chest is sorted. Sort OG merges partial stacks and lines everything up, in any chest, barrel, shulker box or your own inventory. It only needs to be on your side: it sorts with the same clicks you would make, so it works on any server, even a plain vanilla one, without asking anyone to install anything.

One click on the chest's button, one on the inventory's (or press R).

• ⌨️ One key: press R (change it in Controls) and the section under your mouse is sorted: the chest, or your inventory. With the mouse elsewhere, the chest goes first.
• 🖱️ Or one click: a small button sits above each section's slots, and middle click sorts too (in survival and adventure: in creative it still copies items, as usual).
• 📦 Stacks merge: three half stacks of iron become one full stack and a bit, leaving free slots.
• 🔤 Three ways to sort: by category (gear, food, blocks, then the rest), by name (A to Z) or by amount (what you have most of first). Shift + R, or shift-click on a button, changes the mode, and it's remembered.
• 🎒 Your hotbar stays put: sorting your inventory only moves the rows above the hotbar, and armor and the off-hand are never touched. Turn on sortHotbar if you want it sorted too.
• 🧰 Works where it should: chests, double chests, barrels, ender chests, shulker boxes, hoppers, dispensers, minecart chests and modded chests with ordinary slots. On furnaces, crafting tables, anvils and other machines their slots are left alone, and the key sorts your inventory instead.
• 🔒 Safe: nothing happens with an item on your cursor, while you type in a text box (an R in an anvil's name field is just an R), or in the creative inventory. Damaged tools and renamed or enchanted items stay separate.
• 🌍 Client side: install it, join any server. It's harmless on a server too, so it's fine in a modpack that runs on both sides.

The key is in Options > Controls > Key Binds, under Sort OG. Everything else is in config/sortog.properties (created on the first start, with a comment on each line):

• Nothing to install on the server: every sort is a series of ordinary inventory clicks. If a server's rules forbid inventory sorting mods, those rules still apply to you, so check before you use it there.
• No new items or blocks, so you can add it to or remove it from an existing world at any time.
• Works with Sodium, Iris and shader packs (the screenshots below use Complementary Reimagined).
• Every version is tested in-game before release (real chests, full double chests, every mode, the key, the buttons, middle click, an item on the cursor, text boxes, machines and the creative inventory), with the result checked on the server, and boots on a dedicated server.
• MIT License: use it in any modpack.
