Sophisticated Tab

A major Legendary Tabs 2.0 compatibility and polish update, with fixes for crashes, duplicate tabs, broken icons, tab refresh behavior, performance, and backpack ordering.

Legendary Tabs 2.0 Compatibility

• Fixed a crash when opening the inventory with Legendary Tabs 2.0 installed.
• Updated all Sophisticated Tab buttons to use Legendary Tabs 2.0's new tab system.
• Legendary Tabs now requires version 1.20.1-2.0 or newer when installed.
• Incompatible versions are now caught during startup instead of causing a GUI crash later.

Fixed Tab Icons

• Fixed the Back to Inventory tab using a texture that no longer exists in Legendary Tabs 2.0.
• Fixed Backpack and Settings tabs showing a distorted copy of Legendary Tabs' button texture.
• The Settings tab now uses a clean 18×18 gear icon.
• Backpack tabs still display the actual backpack item, so dyed, renamed, and upgraded backpacks remain easy to identify.

Removed Duplicate Tabs

• Removed Legendary Tabs' built-in Sophisticated Backpacks tab when Sophisticated Tab already provides a better replacement.
• Fixed backpack screens showing two identical Inventory tabs.
• Fixed Legendary Tabs' generic backpack tab briefly appearing and disappearing when moving a backpack between your inventory and Curios slot.

Sophisticated Tab keeps its own Inventory button because it safely closes the backpack container before returning to the normal inventory.

Better Tab Support Across Screens

Backpack tabs can now appear on any compatible screen that Legendary Tabs already supports, rather than only the Inventory and Backpack screens.

This includes compatible screens added by other mods, such as Curios and Legendary Survival Overhaul.

Sophisticated Tab will not create tab rows on screens that Legendary Tabs itself does not support.

Tabs Update Immediately

The tab row now refreshes when backpacks are:

• Picked up.
• Equipped.
• Unequipped.
• Removed.
• Hidden.
• Reordered.

You no longer need to close and reopen the screen for changes to appear.

Special care is taken to avoid disrupting backpack search text, upgrade tabs, dragged items, or active tab interactions.

Performance Improvements

• Backpack detection is now cached instead of being recalculated for every tab on every frame.
• Reduced repeated inventory scans while rendering tabs.
• Improved backpack ordering performance.
• Preference lookups are now much faster.
• Tab changes still appear immediately when hiding or reordering backpacks.

Tab Appearance Changes

Sophisticated Tab now lets Legendary Tabs draw the actual tab buttons, allowing it to automatically match each screen's appearance.

• Backpack tabs now inherit Legendary Tabs' normal hover and selected styles.
• Backpack icons remain the real backpack items.
• Settings now uses a flat gear icon matching Legendary Tabs' visual style.
• The old custom backpack_tab.png texture is no longer used.

Resource packs overriding backpack_tab.png will need updating.

Preference System Improvements

Backpack tab preferences have been reworked for better reliability.

• Hidden and reordered backpacks are now stored more safely.
• Simply viewing backpack preferences no longer creates unnecessary save data.
• Newly discovered backpacks no longer rewrite your existing custom order.
• Backpacks you manually arranged stay ahead of newly discovered ones.
• Preference saving now happens asynchronously to reduce unnecessary client pauses.
• Pending changes are safely saved when logging out or closing the game.
• Preference files created by a newer version of Sophisticated Tab are no longer automatically overwritten by an older version.
• Corrupted preference files are preserved for recovery instead of being silently replaced.

Reordering Fixes

• Fixed dragging tabs around backpacks without UUIDs causing incorrect placement.
• Fixed being unable to drag a backpack tab all the way to the right end of the row.
• Fixed Move Left and Move Right sometimes doing nothing.
• Context-menu movement now follows the backpack order currently visible on screen.

Compatibility

• Requires Legendary Tabs 1.20.1-2.0+ when Legendary Tabs is installed.
• Updated all Sophisticated Tab tab IDs for Legendary Tabs 2.0.
• Improved compatibility with Legendary Tabs' dynamically loaded screens and tabs.
• Tab cleanup is now limited only to relevant screens instead of scanning unrelated Minecraft menus.
