Description
Solstice Seasons
Real seasons. No client mod needed.
Minecraft players have wanted seasons for over a decade, but seasons mods need every player to install them, because they recolor the world on each player's screen. Solstice Seasons runs entirely on the server. Drop it into your server's mods folder and every player, even on a completely vanilla client, gets spring, summer, autumn and winter.
๐ธ Four seasons
The year cycles through Spring โ Summer โ Autumn โ Winter, 7 in-game days each by default (configurable). A boss bar at the top of the screen shows the season and day ("โ Winter ยท Day 3 of 7"), and a big on-screen title announces each new season.
๐พ Crops follow the seasons
| Season | Outdoor crop growth |
|---|---|
| ๐ธ Spring | 150%, the growing season |
| โ Summer | 100% |
| ๐ Autumn | 75%, so harvest while you can |
| โ Winter | 0%, crops sleep outdoors |
Works on wheat, carrots, potatoes, beetroot, melons, pumpkins, cocoa, sweet berries, saplings, sugar cane, bamboo and cactus. Bone meal still works all year.
๐ก Greenhouses
Put a roof over your crops (glass counts) and they grow at full speed all year round, even in the dead of winter. Trees overhead don't count; you need a real roof.
โ Real winters, in every biome
- Snow settles on the ground, roofs and trees during winter storms, even in plains, forests and savannas.
- Ponds and rivers freeze over.
- Light keeps it clear: snow doesn't settle next to torches and lamps, just like vanilla.
- Everything is real blocks, so every player sees it, and you can build snowmen and skate on the ice.
๐ง Spring thaws everything
When spring arrives, all the snow and ice winter brought melts away over the first few minutes. Solstice remembers every block it placed, so it never touches your builds: your ice rinks, snow walls and snowy-biome terrain stay exactly as they are.
โ Long summer days, long winter nights
Day length changes smoothly through the year: days are 50% longer at midsummer, and nights are 50% longer at midwinter. Every player's sun and moon move at the new speed, using the game's built-in clock.
๐ Autumn
- Fallen leaves (leaf litter) gather on the ground under trees.
- Red, orange and yellow leaves drift down around you.
- The leaves rot away once winter comes, and only the ones Solstice placed are removed.

Installation
- Requires Fabric Loader and Fabric API.
- Server-side. Install on the server only; players don't need anything.
- Works in singleplayer too.
Good to know
Because Solstice doesn't need a client mod, some things stay as vanilla draws them:
- Grass and leaf colors don't change with the seasons. Autumn shows up as fallen leaves and drifting leaf particles instead.
- In warm biomes, winter storms look like rain on players' screens, but snow still settles on the ground.
- Seasons apply to the Overworld. The Nether and End have no sun or weather to change.
