Smooth Step Camera
Walk onto slabs and stairs with a smooth change in camera height.

Smooth Step Camera smooths the half-block step onto a slab, the step from a slab to a full block, and short drops back down. Use it in first person, in either vanilla third-person view, or with Shoulder Surfing Reloaded.
Features
- Smooth camera height changes on slabs and stairs, up to 0.6 blocks.
- First-person and third-person support.
- Shoulder Surfing Reloaded 5.2.0 integration, including camera wall checks.
- Adjustable transition time from 50 to 500 ms.
You keep the same movement, collision box, and interaction reach. Jumps and long falls do not trigger step smoothing.
If you use Shoulder Surfing Reloaded, keep its Fabric API and Forge Config API Port dependencies installed.
Adjust the smoothing
Open config/smoothstepcamera.json after the first launch:
{
"enabled": true,
"smoothingTimeMs": 180
}
Raise smoothingTimeMs for a slower, softer transition, or lower it for a quicker response. Use a value between 50 and 500 ms. Set enabled to false to turn the effect off.
Restart the game after editing the config.
